Nike had a disastrous public relations event at the Man Utd.-Bayern Munich game in Chicago. First off the escorts(the little kids who escort the players onto the field) Bayern Munich had their kids fully kitted out head to toe in Adidas gear. Nike didn't have anything for the Man Utd.escorts.....the ball boys went out as the Man Utd escorts wearing Adidas gear and a white UNICEF t-shirt.I felt really sorry for those kids, the least Nike should do is get those kids a complimentary Man Utd.outfit signed by the players. Adidas on the other hand had a great FanFest area and they had giveaway packages which included photos, key chains and a climalite Bayern Munich jersey. In all Adidas handed out 24,000 jerseys. The only thing I saw from Nike was a ball juggling team that hand out a few(very few) balls and Man Utd DVD'd (even less of those) Well done Adidas, although the game wasn't good your company made the day for me and my kids.
I have been giving Adidas props all over these message boards, that was awesome to get that shirt after seeing that 'match' . 24,000! Wow those are the same ones the Shampionsworld people were selling for $85 in the stadium. I missed the fanfest area, that is too bad.
Consumer.Relations@adidasus.com I just sent ADIDAS a quick email to thank them for their genoristy towards the fans. If you got a shirt, or was impressed with thier operation, I recommend sending them a quick note to say thanks.
