Now there's a thought; no, seriously. Great suggestion.

If I wasn't afraid I'd have been shouted down by all the you-know-who's, I would have suggested it myself. And seeing that NYC is the flagship city of the USA, it's a perfect fit. After all, no matter where we all came from, and no matter the circumstances, we're all Americans (cue patriotic music).

Sorry, I don't know who Lewis Mumford is. :( And I've only heard of Hy Dreitzer (if that's the connection; I've only followed DCA for about six years. If not, never mind :D).

    Thanks for the positive response.

The Lewis Mumford reference was just being arch and showy. Mumford was one of the foremost architectural and cultural historian/critics of the 20th century (though not without his own critics), and through the 40s and 50s he wrote a column for the New Yorker, mostly about architecture in the city, called The Skyline. Hence...

But in actuality the supporters group named after Mumford, or any New Yorker columnist for that matter, would be the supporters group that defiantly crosses the rubicon forever into super-snob nerdiness.

    Here's a bright idea....you can't leave it....
it's part of USL's laws of buying a franchise.
That's why we have this thread.
We HAVE to have a nickname.

    oh then in that case

    NYFC (english club name here)

stupid of USL forcing to adopt a nick name...

FCNY simply sounds fine no need to add to it......

I heard Chris was maxing out his credit cards and using his life savings and selling his stuff and his parents stuff to get enough money to buy the cosmos name...

his parents how ever think he is on crystal meth cause he's pawned every thing not nailed down............

he's even gone down to the level of street muggings using a box cutter as a weapon to scrap up more cash......

CHRIS TENIA QUE SER DE VELEZ PARA SER TAN PLANCHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone thrown out the name Citizens? FC New York Citizens. Doesn't really have a good flow to it but the name fits the idea that this club if for the people.

Why? Anyone who immigrates legally is eligible to become a citizen. Those who come here illegally have nothing to say about it. Play by the rules, become a citizen. Where's the problem?

Did the Europeans that came here to colonize play by the rules? How about we start by kicking them out first and then lets talk about rules, immigration and the like? Deal?

    i completely agree with you...
the trouble is...everyone else might not.
I like the citizens... i just takes on a different meaning to some people which can be avoided by looking elsewhere for a name....

but i also don't want to be a sky blue team nickednamed the citizens either.
    How un-original:D
