Well. Not really. I guess. Depends. I mean....if you are Toro Rojo and you are on your first date with this real hot babe and your....uh....mmmmm....nuts yell your name...well....I don't know. It has never happened to me....I swear. El Chapulin Colorado
Why do teams have to have a nickname? If you tell me it's a marketing tool for the American fan then lets bring back the shootout, clock counting down, etc. I like hearing about teams whose nickname evolved rather than were created. What's wrong with FC Dallas? In a few years the sportswriters and fans will more than likely embrace a name that the entire community will recognize, rather than a meaningless and ambiguous name (as was the case with "Burn").
Everytime someone mentions Red Bulls, I keep thinking of that energy drink. How about the Bovine Blue Bulls? At least it's better than Malt Liquor Bulls.
God forbid an MLS team wears a colored jersey and white shorts. Is it the 11th Commandment? Is it in the MLS Charter? Between the single entity businsss model and the league mission statement? These MLS Uniform Nazis need to loosen their collars. Lordy.
I thought the 11th Commandment was that all MLS clubs (except for the Crew whom they are the Anti-Christ) must wear all white road uniforms.
Dont forget the Galaxy. I wonder if it is a deal, when you get your own stadium you can wear something other than white on the road. Hmmm
If thats the case, no more all white uniforms. I still think Dallas should have white shorts instead of red. Anyone else get the Red Bull its gives you wings voice when you see Red Bulls?
It's kinda a rule. The road team has to be almost all a light color. Cbus can wear their all yellow on the road for example. All uniform set ups have to be approved by NY HQ. The first run adidas made at a FCD kit, rumor has it, was delivered with white shorts and the red and white hoops top. But I just don't think that white shorts will get by the NY brain trust. Which is why my drawing has red shorts. But in reality there is no reason why it can't be done, the road teams could all just wear their dark shorts with the white tops... piece of cake. but I am not holding my breath. I cna live with hopps over red. My dream was the red and blue hoops top with shite shorts. I get the warm fuzzies every time I see Flamengo in the red and black top with white shorts.
Yeah I know. Its this group-think, conformity MLS HQ BS I hate the most. Its what I hate most about SEM. If its a dumb idea then suddenly all 10/12 teams are doing it - not just the stupid ass Cincinnati Bengals. Its this GDamn watering down / diluting the uniquness of teams that kills me and just about killed the league 4 years ago. Let the frigging team decide. Some a-hole in a suit in NY says Dallas can't have a certain uninform because the San Jose away kit too closely resembles it. Or whatever. F that. Let the teams decide for christ sake. Its a soccer uniform - we're not out there by oursleves changing the Geneva Conventions for the Treatment of Prisoners of war. We'll f-ing decide what we wear and you work around us. When you come to play FC Dallas, you bring you dark shorts. What the hell is so hard about that? I need a drink.
Northside, THIS makes sense to me - not the "kinda rule" (for lack of a better designator) of wearing white/light/shite (this last in homage to you, 3rd ) for your road kit...
what is so hard about letting teams have whatever jerseys they want and then letting the home team decide what they want to wear and the away team adapting to whatever that is, even if it means wearing your home kit on the road it won't kill you, Dallas did it a couple times this year.
As I just wrote in the poll thread, cattle thieves. A bit of a mouthful, but it's one of the few fitting western icons not yet appropriated for a sports team.
