Here’s hoping to what ? he isn’t healthy ever. Schalke will run out his youth contract and he will be back on a team in usl soon.
They've given him another year to get well: Nick #Taitague has extended his contract until 2021! 🙌🇺🇸#SchalkeUS🇺🇸— Schalke 04 USA🇺🇸 (@s04_us) February 20, 2020
there you go @butters59 your answer extension by one year but likely last chance. Turned 21 on Monday too, birthday gift.
I'm actually shocked he got an extension. Maybe they feel if he doesnt make the team next year they can sell him to MLS in jan?
Hmm, I can't see an MLS team spending much for a contract that runs out six months later on a player who has been injury prone and has yet to appear at a senior level. That said, stranger things have happened. More likely, he would first get a loan to an MLS team like Emo.
Great Kid. Super happy for him getting the extension. Seriously doubt that Schalke signs him to sell him. Bro, you know nada.
Some have said he's more electric than Pulisic but I wonder if that's even remotely true now with injuries if it ever was.

The start of the pre-season will be delayed for Taitague and Hoppe, due to some Covid-19 cases in the U23 squad. https://schalke04.de/inside/nach-testung-weiterer-covid-19-fall-im-kreis-der-u23/
Taitague took part in Schalke's first preseason training session today. Coffee and live #S04 training to start Monday the right way ☕⚽#SchalkeUS🇺🇸 https://t.co/R6PnAHad2U— Schalke 04 USA🇺🇸 (@s04_us) August 3, 2020 Schalke also have a new head of fitness, a new head of perfomance and a new head of nutrition. Maybe they'll get it right.
Nice, that's good to see. Hope this kid can catch a break and show us what he is capable of. Taitague's career trajectory so far reminds me a bit of Sebastian Lletget - a US U-17 player hyped in some inner USYNT circles who has been buried on youth squads for a top-division European club and struggled with injuries. Lletget came out the other side at LA Galaxy as as 23 year old and has proven to be a solid pro since.
I'm inclined to agree with this sentiment, but have we ever had a YA whom we had all written off because of injury but miraculously came back to play at a high level? Maybe Jermaine Jones? Maybe we're due for one?
Jermaine Jones is probably the best example. For what it's worth, DaMarcus Beasley also struggled with injuries between 2007-2011 and only played in 34 league matches during those 4 seasons (!). He re-emerged at Puebla and reinvigorated his career.
