Sakiewicz defended Zambrano, who has two years left on his contract, and said it was very likely that Zambrano would return.

"A lot of people want to see me fire Octavio," Sakiewicz said. "Everyone wants to give up on Octavio, and I'm not the kind of guy who gives up easily on people. But I want to say that I will change this team quite a bit, from the players to the front office. The entire organization was a huge disappointment."

It's the usual Nick quote where he contradicts himself. Seems like he's already laying out the groundwork for OZ to "resign" at the end of the week and stay with the team as a "scout" until his next coaching gig.

My opinion? Shep Messing is named the new head coach next month.

Not surprised. It's funny how the metros seem to get rid of all their good stuff and keep all the $*&% around.

The only possible reason why they would keep him is because if they let him go they still have to pay him for the next few yrs.

On Messing as a coach? Does he have coaching experience?

I think we should simply start over.

Get rid of the entire organization and start from scratch. Nick can go back to being a used car salesman and Oz can go do whatever he is good at.

Here we go again. Wholesale changes. Excellent. That works out well. Let's get rid of Howard, Faria, Davis, Akwari, Jolley. Or better yet, keep just them, bring in 13 new players around them. That way they should get it together by, I don't know, 2004?

I don't think he has any experience, but he's certainly been "campaigning" for the job on the telecasts. During the DC road match last week, you got the feeling that a little birdie told him he might be considered if (or when) OZ gets the axe.

If I am not wrong, he also consistently stated how this is not Zambrano's problem, but rather it is the players responsibility to put it together on the field.

If I was him, I wouldn't want the job.

Does he know what he is saying? Lothar played what? Half of the season in 2000? That was the time when the threesome of D.Hernandez, Petke and Jolley was actually feared in the league. They were playing well.

Lothar was an outsider to the team, and he added nothing.

Fu(k this organization. It's the worst thing in the world. If I was any player on this team, and I had any talent, I would immediately demand a trade. This is a joke. It's sad that we actually have fans. Fu(k OZ. Fu(k Nick. Fu(k the Metrostars.

Everyone, please keep this in mind: Nick is likely not the person who gets to decide if OZ leaves or stays.

Keep the faith, mates, like our Boss Man Nick. The Gaffer will certainly be read the riot act back at club headquarters and certainly, when we sign a Lothar replacement, you'll see a backline that's not so often caught at sixes and sevens. Here's to our first pint together in the Meadows next spring.

Come on you Metro, come on you!

    Cheers

This is your fan. This is your fan on drugs. Any questions?

Our Lothar replacement needs to make sure they come with lots of sun tan lotion for rehabing on the beach.

Maybe Nick doesn't want to hire a coach that won't let him sit on the bench during games.

They let you into this country? I've never heard a real Englishman speak such "authentic" British, much less one who supports Nantes FC.

This is the most pertinent point. Obie, do you know who makes these decisions? Because it wouldn't surprise me if someone removed from the team decides to keep OZ for short sighted financial reasons.

I seriously think Anschutz Entertainment Group should fire OZ and Nick and replace them with more competent people. We have totally inadequate people running what should be one of the league's premier teams. It's not just hurting us; this is damaging MLS. If OZ stays I won't even attempt to bring someone to a Metros game next year.

I would assume that it would be Kevin Payne, not Nick, who pulls the trigger if that's what they decide to do. I don't think that Phil himself would get involved at this level, but you never know.

Keep in mind also that Nick's on shaky ground himself. The only reason to keep Nick around at this point is for the stadium negotiations. He should be removed from everything that has to do with the product on the field.

The one thing that I fail to get is: Why would Nick be so loyal to this guy? If anything it should be easy to fire him because Charlie, not Nick, hired him. This should be the easiest decision that Nick has ever made.

Those hookers must have been really, really good for Nick to have this much attachment to OZ.

What, you mean Brian Cashman doesn't sit next to Torre and Zim?

The situation here is ridiculous. The only reason I wanted the Metrostars to lose was so that Nick and OZ could get fired. If that isn't going to happen, then this was the biggest waste of a season ever!

I don't understand what OZ needs to create a winner? This team has been reconstructed countless times over the past 3 years. In the past 6 months, twice. I'm not talking about tweaking, but wholesale changes. If those changes failed so miserably, then of course OZ should get fired. OZ changed the face of the team twice the past year, and both times they failed.

    WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so angry right now, you don't understand. I walked into Foxboro knowing we were going to lose. No, I was one hundred percent positive that we were going to suck. It didn't matter if we had Zidane on our team, we were going to lose.

The team blew. If the team as a whole, with so much talent, sucks then it has to mean something. What does it mean Nick you fu(king douchebag????????????????????? It means that the coach has no clue what he is doing. OMG!!!!!

If Zambrano is coach next year, I am officially not going to one Metrostars game until both Nick and OZ are fired.

I cannot believe that Nick was so stupid. Why on earth would he make that idiotic "under the bus" comment. Is he a natural born moron?

DC can keep their coach, after all, he was hired late and had little to work with. Another year, maybe two, and he has to produce.

But OZ has two or three of the best players in the league, and nothing to show for it. It's not like they could get WORSE! The only team they "beat" was a team led by Santino Quaranta, who might, might, have had to buy his first razor this year.

As far as I am concerned, your team finished last. There is no excuse for anyone with Howard, Mathis, Davis, Jolley, and Diallo finishing last. From a Burn perspective, keep Oz. I love kicking the crap out of his teams. I was major league pissed off when they didn't do it last time you were here. If Oz stays, that's clear points.
