even more impressive to see a young forward so relentless and unmerciful against lesser competition or something

Is anyone going to call this kid up for the USA? I understand this is Ligue 2, but he is performing well and scoring goals. For a 19 year old, that's not bad.

He's too old for the U-20s.

If he was called up to the U-23s, I wouldn't complain. BUT when?

He can't do the January U-23 camp due to league games. Then there is a warm-up camp before U-23 qualifying and then qualifying in March. I can't see him called up to qualifying without playing in a camp.

His best bet is to play well and sneak into that team if the team qualifies.

As for the full USMNT, his resume is still really thin for that. 2 goals in 6 appearances in low League 2 is certainly good for a 19 year old, but still not ripe for the NT.

But he's certainly one to follow.

I remember trying to track how leading scorers in the top Euro second divisions do in subsequent years. I wanted to see what scoring success really meant in these leagues.

I typically went back in the 2.BL, Championship, Serie B, Ligue 2, Segunda about 3-6 years and then looked at what the top 10 leading scorers in those second divisions did in the next few seasons.

I found that Ligue 2 leading scorers typically moved up to a higher level and performed well. I found more future success among Ligue 2 leading scorers than 2.Bundesliga leading scorers (although neither Jordan Siebatcheu or Bobby Wood are representing Ligue 2 and 2.Bundesliga success well).

But that is all a moot point. Niko isn't there yet.

that's because 2BL top scorers are usually not good enough for 1BL to begin with or career 2BL-3rd Liga players. That whole league is mostly for wash outs or players not ready for 1BL. Also 1BL clubs aren't that interested in 2BL players. A lot of times best chance to make 1BL is through promotion. Does anyone think Hennings a career 2BL player would have played 1BL if Fortuna didn't get promoted? Nope and it would have been a shame since he's scored 17 goals in past 2 seasons in 1BL.

it's weird to say but sometimes the more interesting prospects aren't the ones who score too much......

He subbed in as Caen won, 1-0. He didn't score the goal, but I can't tell if he was involved.

His rating isn't related to the quality of a player, but how much he wants a player to be called to MNT right now. So by definition it's purely subjective speculative numbers. So he wants CCV who goes down like a rock more than Taitague who is possibly the most talented player of his talented year. So what? He might have some other reasons for a call that we don't know besides the quality of the player. General description of the players is pretty fair.
