Jagr will be gone from the Caps, unless he does the ridiculously unexpected and takes a paycut.

I heard something about a Lindros for Jagr deal with the Rangers. If the Caps do that, they're fools.

The Avs are saying the right thing about David Aebischer and Phil Sauve getting the first crack in goal, but who knows.

The Bruins? I barely even care anymore. It's sad, but they've become just about irrelevant league-wide. They need about 4 defensemen.

Blue Meanie or somebody else who knows about it: are there any news regarding the negotiations with Marco Sturm? Last I read weeks ago was that Sturm was waiting for the new GM to be announced as he had his negotiations with Lombardi. Now that the new GM is in office since some weeks, there should be some movement in this matter, but I couldn't read anything about it lately.

Minutes ago I read that the owners are already negotiating.

I have heard that too. Some of this depends on the contract situations. Jagr is not producing to the level he is being paid.

Yeah, but then again, the NY Post reported that Mario Lemieux might dump his ownership responsibilities and join the Rangers.

What the Rangers need for next season is a prayer. I'm convinced that's what it's gonna take for this team to friggin do something. Oh, and sign Larry Robinson as coach.

Todd Marchant reportedly just bought a house in Amherst, New York, a suburb of Buffalo.

    Don't tell anyone. ;)

I think he's from there originally too.

Anyway, the Caps would be dumb to swap Jagr for Lindros because it's one underachieving high salary for another. Also, Lindros isn't playing as physical as he used to be, to be fair he's had those concussions. However, he's more injury prone and "off his game" prone than Jagr is.

Sharks still did not reach an agreement with Sturm, but they signed 20 year old goalie Dimitri Pätzold. He'll most likely play in their farm team first though - is it Cleveland or where can they send him?

If the Rangers do not re-sign Leetch, I will be very upset. I don't even care about the coaching situation right now, but if Leetch isn't a Ranger when the season starts, I will forever curse Glen Sather. HE'S THE HEART AND SOUL OF THE TEAM YOU MORON!!!!

As for the coaching situation, supposedly Slats has began talking to Larry Robinson. Hopefully he won't choose his next coach based on their "Why I Want To Coach The NY Rangers" essays. God, Trottier seems like a surreal event that almost never happened. I wonder if Fish Sticks fans will ever forgive him?

Maybe it's not the worst thing to do to rip out the heart and soul of a permanently underachieving team? ;) Just a little joke, I'm not familiar enough with the Rangers to evaluate it.

Btw, draft starts tomorrow - I'm a little surprised to see no trades for better draft positions yet. What is the reason?

How about the Dolans just fire Slats. Not like he's done anything.
Oh believe me, losing Leetch would be a disaster for a team that already sucks on D. He can play on the PP unit, and he's great on the PK. Of course the Rangers sucked on both special team units this year so it's hard to believe it. But believe me, if you watch the Rangers, you know Leetch is the only bright spot on that team. And he's been basically the only bright spot in the 6 playoff-less years.

Yup. Born and raised. Watch the Sabres tommorow. Regir isn't going to fuck around, Golisano made it clear that if we don't make the playoffs next year, heads WILL roll.

    Rumors Circulating

This in all likely-hood isn't going to happen but anyway:

    Bill Guerin to Buffalo

On top of that, he was the only guy who seemed to be playing with any fire late in the season when they were supposed to be attempting to make a run at a playoff spot.

    Panthers make good deal:

    http://espn.go.com/nhl/draft2003/s/2003/0621/1571160.html

#3 pick, still likely who's left of Eric Stall or Nathan Horton (FLA needs a big, powerful aggressive F for the future; Worrell could develop but seems lost at times), and reportedly another prospect from the Pens (Brooks Orpik?). They give up the #1 but with Luongo already around, the Panthers need the depth more. They hire the right coach (Keenan won't be around much longer) and this team could be SCARY in 3-4 years.

Pens gave Mikael Samuelson for the trade (not Orpik)

Bruins traded Stumpel back to L.A. - a bit cheap as he's going with a 7th round pick for a 4th round pick this and a 2nd round pick next year.

Stumpel's useless more often than not.

Orpik was a name I threw out there, didn't have all the details at the time.

Going to look at ESPN draft page in a sec.

And to replace him, the Bruins have...

That's what I thought. I still can't figure out if the Bruins actually have some sort of plan or if they're just making it up as they go along.

San Jose slowly should think about renaming into 'Haie' (German for 'sharks'). They have Marco Sturm (if they agree on a new contract); they just signed their 2001 picks Dimitri Pätzold and Christian Ehrhoff; they still have their draft right on Marcel Goc; and now they drafted Patrick Ehelechner and Kai Hospelt. Probably they just weren't paying attention when they allowed Nashville to pick Alexander Retzer and Phoenix Eduard Lewandowski...

Looks like Derian Hatcher will be available a week from yesterday. As will Darren McCarty, apparently.

Give the Cup to the Avs already....

    Kariya and Teemu? Jeebus.

    And Hatcher to the Wings.

Hmmm. The Wings add Hatcher to a defense that already had Lidstrom and Chelios, plus the impending return of Hasek. The immovable object... against the unstoppable force in Denver. Sakic, Forsberg, Kariya and Selanne? Can you say "Gretzky, Kurri, Messier and Coffey"?

McCarty stays in Detroit, BTW. Sergei, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

Next rumor: Cujo to Rangers for Lindros.
