Good one! I said it the day of the draw and it looks like Ireland are cool with proving me right. 3 and out.
Anyone else see any similarities with how England were set-up today and how they played with the 2011 Galaxy? Tight defense with an eye on the counter-attack, 4-4-2.
Yeah, and after watching that Irish defense, I don't feel quite so bad about our own.... Wow, talk about damning with faint praise.
Ibrahimovic's goal today was absolutely sick. The last slo-mo replay shows just how flawless his technique was on that scissor-kick.... Just like how I used to do it back in high school... While asleep and dreaming in Algebra II.....
Okay...does anybody here other than me noticed that the hosts / stadiums in Poland & Ukraine are using OUR goal celebration song i.e. the White Stripe song (forgot its name - is it Seven Nation Army?) to celebrate each goal? Seriously...am I right in thinking that LAG was (is) the only team using that song to celebrate their (our) goals prior to Euro 2012 because I have never heard other teams, club or country, using that song before other than LAG. Perhaps the host nations were watching/following Becks in LA and decided that it's a great song to celebrate every goals scored? LOL! Proud to be LAG fan!
I think it started in Italy in the early 2000's but the G's were the first to use it in the States edit: according to this article http://deadspin.com/5875933/how-the-song-seven-nation-army-conquered-the-sports-world a Belgian club started it and the Italians took it for themselves.
The group stages had arguably the most entertaining games of any international tournament in recent history, but the quarter finals have been a bit slow. Its weird because the opposite is usually true.
I do, I watched Spain playing and they spent a lot of time just passing and passing. Very slow and boring. They did not show any urgency until the last 15 minutes of the games.
