Kicking off Week 3 coverage with this from Lucid in another thread:

    "My picks for week 3?
    ATL -7 1/2 Cincy
    Green Bay -7 1/2 DETROIT
    San Diego -1 ARIZONA
NEW ENGLAND -8 1/2 Kansas City
    MIAMI -6 1/2 Jets

    Locks
    -----
    - Atlanta is going to demolish Cincy, just look at what Cleveland did to them!

    - San Diego has a pretty damn good team, so I think they'll beat Arizona by at least a couple field goals.

    - New England v. KC, I already touched on this one, should be a NE victory by about 30 points.

    Probables
    ---------
    - Detroit is awful, so I don't see how Green Bay can't win by more than a touchdown.

    - Miami is unstoppable. The Jets got killed by NE, and I think Miami is just one step below New England, though we won't know for sure until they play each other. But one common factor in the next two weeks is they both play KC, and there's a common ground that you can kind of use to judge one against the other. "

I won't contest too too much of what he says. I don't think New England will beat KC by 30. I'm going to say 34-20. KC does have weapons offensively, but Brady will be able to have his way with the D.

Jeff's Lock: Philly will absolutely, positively kick Dallas' asses into the turf at the Vet. The home opener, fresh of an away rout in the Division, which the defense gave up 0 points. And the Cowboys come in? I say Dallas crosses midfield 3 times, gets on FG with help from a penalty, and loses 34-3.

Other predictions: Denver pulls away from Buffalo in the second half 31-20, due to a much better defense. Tennessee gets better vs. the Brownies, Vick has nearly 400 yards total offense as Atlanta kicks the Bengals all the way to Buckhead, and finally, because they always seem to win no matter how much better the other team is, the Jets upset the Fish on the road.

The Pats should throttle the Chiefs, maybe not by 30, but 21 or 24 seems a good bet. The Pats offense is impressive (number 1 in scoring) and the defense nearly as much (number 2 in scoring). When you have the number 1 scoring offense and the number 2 scoring defense, you are going to win a lot of games.

Man, the Patriots inablity to contain Priest Holmes made me a nervous wreck. That's a concern with shifty, elusive backs I have; the Pats D does fine against the straight ahead runners like the Bus.

Troy Brown came up HUGE, caught something like 18 passes. Antowain Smith made some big runs, but took a while to get going. The pattern for him.

Cleveland and Tennessee are still in OT. Titans were ahead for most of the game, and will kick themselves silly if they allow the Brownie comeback to be complete.

The Jets suck ass big time without a healthy Curtis Martin. Second straight complete disaster, would be 0-3 if Buffalo's kick coverage wasn't as bad as the Jets are.

The Bills-Broncos shootout hasn't materialized yet, the only points scored by McGlockton.

Just after I post that, Cleveland gets the game winning FG.

I wish Daunte Culpepper hit actually pounded Randy Moss; you'll see the highlight on Primetime if you haven't seen it already.

This is why I am not working for ESPN. The Pats pulled out a thriller from what I am reading. Thank goodness for good field goal kickers.

    GO PATS!!!

I would like to take this time to apologize in advance to everyone that might be watching the NFL game on ESPN tonight. Please don't hold the Bengals or their performance against our fair city, for unlike our cowardly team owner, we the people of Cincinnati, actually do care about winning and about the civic pride that not even he can take from us - even if we don't ever get to see a winning team dress in the orange and black. He is a disgrace to our city and a disgrace to the sport. Please, please try to remember that no matter how embarrassed you may feel for the Bengals, your feelings pale in comparison to what we have to endure on a weekly basis.

    Thank you.

The Pats game was a thriller.

AFL, do not worry about perception of Cincinnati. The only reason I, was well as 99.9999999999% of the viewing audience, are bothering to watch this game is the prescence of Michael Vick. I'm only paying attention when Cincy has the ball so I'll know when Vick has it back.

The Bengals aren't even paying attention when they have the ball.

Hey, man, I sympathize with your situation. But, at least you guys have gone to two Super Bowls (one played here in Detroit) and gave solid performances in each game. Try 45 years without a championship, which is what Lions fans have been suffering thru with no end in sight!

But right now, the Lions have something that the Bengals will never have as long as Mike Brown is here:

    Hope.

I took ATL over CIN in the weekly pool. I just didn't think CIN would be this bad. With Corey Dillon, the Bengals deserved better.

I made the correct pick of the Saints winning over the Bears. How about them Saints, coming down from 0-20? I wonder what the Vegas payout was for a Saints win SU.

Nothing like the Bungles to take the pain of two tough losses off of the Falcons.

I feel completely sorry for ANY Bungles ERRR Bengals fan.

I TRIED to watch the game last night, if only to watch Michael Vick. But to have to witness the utter incompetence of the Bengals was TOO much. I turned it off with 5 minutes to go.

That is about as low as a franchise can go.

I thought that three years ago.

The NFL does everything in it's power to ensure parity among the leagues worst teams - high draft picks, extremely light scheduling, etc.. But the Bengals have continuously bucked that system. They are completely rebelling against the league, saying, "Take that, NFL! Not even you can make us be a good team! Hahahahahaha!"

Are there any other teams in the league that refuse to hire a general manager? I'm not quite sure, but I think that we are the only ones that use the general managers just get in the way of the owner philosophy.

The Falcons don't have one right now. However, they are looking for one, but are intelligently (for once) waiting to hire the right candidate. Bobby Beathard is on the payroll as a consultant (until SD his track record was phenomonal) and Joe Gibbs is part of the ownership group, so it's not like ARthur Blank has no one to help with the football side.

Well that's fine if it's temporary. We haven't had one in 6 years because Mike Brown thinks he does as good a job as any general manager can do.

Did anyone else get the sense that the Rams just weren't going to come back, even when they were only down 6 points?

If they can't get beat the Cowboys next week, they might as well call it the season.

They're not gonna lose to the Cowboys. The Cowboys are the Washington Generals of the NFL this year. The touchdown pass that Eagles running back threw was better than any ball Quincy Carter threw all game.

    Mike Martz is a genius.

With less than 10 seconds left, and down by two touchdowns, the genius leaves his QB in the game. The game ended with TB sacking Warner. As if STL's line was doing a stand-up job the whole night.

The genius did not seem to understand that he already lost the battle. Yet, by leaving his QB late in a lost cause, he could have lost the season.

Mike Martz for "Coach of the Year".
