NFL season thread (R) I'll start it off. Jamal Anderson about to sign with the Super Bowl Champs: http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/0826/1422829.html They'll find a way to use him productively, even with Antowain Smith.
This year the season will end like it's suppose to. Rams with the Super Bowl trophy. Early Super Bowl prediction: Browns-Rams.
For the first time since 1999 I'm confident about the fortunes of my Jets. I think they could make the Super Bowl if their defense gels quickly. JMac
First place schedule, playing in Champaign... I'd be happy with 11-5 and a wildcard berth... Can Miller and Chandler combine into one healthy quarterback? Will all 3 linebackers make the Pro Bowl?
That's the only thing that worries me too,the Bears have no quarterback waiting in the wings to lead us to the promised land.We have to quarterbacks headed to the retirement home.Chandler's got a kick ass arm which should work well with Terrell,Robinson,Booker and to a lesser extent Dez White.
Well, it looks like Jamal Anderson ain't signing after all. I don't know about another Super Bowl, but playoffs again should happen.
Didn't the Eagles prove last season (in the bearcubs house mind you) that champaign/chicago team is still a long ways away from being a real contender?
Pats go 8-8, they are a team that will win one year then be mediocre the next then win the year after that. Every other year they will be good.
Season starts on Thursday. Pats will not repeat the Super Bowl but will get back to playoffs. Predictions, playoff seed in (): AFC East: Miami (3) AFC North: Pittsburgh (1) AFC South: Tennessee (2) AFC West: Oakland (4) Wild Card: Indy (5), Pats (6) NFC East: Philly (2) NFC North: Green Bay (3) NFC South: Tampa Bay (4) NFC West: Rams (1) Wild Card: SF (5), Bears (6) AFC Playoffs: 1st round: (6) NE over (3) Miami (4) Oakland over (5) Indy 2nd round: (2) Tennessee over (4) Oakland (1) Pittsburgh over (6) NE AFC Champ: (1) Pittsburgh over (2) Tennessee NFC Playoffs: 1st Round: (3) Green Bay over (6) Chicago (5) SF over (4) Tampa Bay 2nd Round: (1) Rams over (5) SF (2) Philly over (3) GB NFC Champ: (2) Philly over (1) Rams AND YOUR SUPER BOWL WINNER WILL BE: Philadelphia over Pittsburgh
American football sucks. It's just a bunch of fat guys waddling around. They're not athletes. Now that I've got that out of the way I'm hoping this is the big breakout year for Andy Reid and the Eagles. As long as we whip up on the rest of the NFC East teams I'll be happy but just making it to the Superbowl would be a dream come true.
I like the way you think. I wish I was as optimistic. It figures as soon as I move to Indy the Eagles become a leggitimate contender. But I am unsure that they can overcome losing Trotter. Also I am not sure the NFC East will be a pushover, I don't at all discount the Giants, and the redskins looked very good in preseason.
Only point of yours I'll debate is the Redskins looking good in preseason. I think it'll be a different story when teams start throwing their full defenses at them. Spurrier's O talent relative to D talent is a lot less this time than at UF.
Ted Johnson leaves Patriots for some reason: http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/0905/1427509.html I don't get this, after all the rehabbing he's done to come back from various injuries. If he's pissed about less PT and the pay cut he had to take, let's face it he's a valuable contributor when healthy, but hasn't been on the field enough, so the cut was necessary.
umm...I'm confused about your stance on the game, but if by fat you mean players like Steve McNair with their 7% body fat percentage...yeah, fat guys waddling around...
I wish I had Philly-Tennessee on here, but I'll live with Vikings-Bears. Too much to do to go bar hopping. Anyway, kickoff in just over 15 minutes! Go right here: http://nfl.com/scores to track all the games live.
nfl.com wasn't even close to live for me in the 4th quarter of games. I don't know what to say about the dumbasses on the Cleveland Browns. Headed for 5-11, this will linger. Primetime needs to show highlights of Vermeil's press conference after this one.
So did I. And now back to football... I have never been happier than today to be a Browns hater. *sniffle* I love you guys.
