OK I will go for a stunning 2-0 blowout victory after some bad luck we should do better. maybe the team will rally to show Pablo (In Grenada) that they do have passion, afterall. FHN Riccardo p.s. could be worse, we could be fans of England!!
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post You are right, Riccardo. I am sure there are some English fans that considered suicide after yesterday's debacle. When I saw the new post, I feared it was about another Rapid's scoreless match, at least on the part of the Rapids. You know, if it wasn't for our pitiful offense, we would be raving about the defense. I think this is going to be a difficult match because Dallas is playing much better this year. For the time being we have replaced them as doormat. Considering this is a home match, and considering that the Rapids absolutely must win, I will be going with 2-1 Rapids. I would love to see us win in a shutout, but I think they will get one goal. Hope you are right and I am wrong!!!!!
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post I saw most of the Burn's 3 - 1 win over the Revs last week and they looked very good. Of course, it was at home against the second worst team in the league. With Pablo and Pedro gone for this game, I look for Eddie Johnson, Toni Nhleko and Ronnie O'Brien to hurt us this week and for the Burn come away with a stunning 1 - 0 victory on the road.
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post And here, let me predict the response from Hankinson: "I was very proud of the guys, and the effort they showed on the field today. Some of these guys are taking a lot of heat for their play. Like Mark Chung. But he's been so good, it almost looks like he's not trying and it almost looks like he doesn't care. Thats how he gets you. You know, looking at the standings, you might think that we are a last place team. But we're not. The aura around this team is a healthy green, and suggests that this team, spiritually is contending for first place as we speak. We are not the kind of team that wins with goals. We win with a healthy dose of self satisfaction that will reward us with a playoff slot just as soon as I can figure out some way to get MLS to factor our spiratuality into the standings." So it has been written, so it shall be done. Sadly.
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post We usually fall apart in Burn land.... I hope we don't this time. Prediction: Rapids 0-2 Burn. Ouch!! Dallas gets a whopping 5762 fans to brave the 80 degree temps and blue skies. Will that now put us at 399 scoreless minutes?
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post I'll be impressed if that many Dallas fans show up... the match is in Denver.
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post ah buttttttt. everyone is looking forward to salt 'n peppa. or is it garlic and schrapnel....or was it tabasco and paprika? or maybe it was lemon zest and....
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post Burn 3 - Rapids 0 Eddie Johnson goes on a run with two in his bag and Nhelko nets one with all assists coming from O'Brien. These three guys work well together from the times I've seen them play. KSE screws something up. Counce gives another quote about how they have to work at promoting soccer. No local tv news coverage, regardless of the match. My predictions for the next event.
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post Alas the Spice Keeper is injured and Cassar played very well in his stead last week... so ol' Scotty may not even be making the trip, or simply watching from the bench.
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post Garlick has sucked all season. I've tortured myself by watching the Burn games to discover this. So, I'm betting that the only thing injured is Garlick's pride. Rapids say "The heck with Dallas' good play recently, and the way they shelacked us the first go around" and score 1. Spenny back heels to Pedro's spirit, which deflects the ball towards the goal and Zizi pushes it the last 12 inches for another time-to-run-around-I'm-the-Tebellah-King-dance-move celebration. Tie game, 1-1. Cheers, BilFish
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post Oops... I don't know what schedule I was looking at. Ok, since the Rapids are playing here with 2 or 3 promotions going on. Prediction Rapids 1-0 Dallas Scoreless streak OVER!!! Rapids overwhelm Dallas with 1 GOAL!!!! Anyway, 17652 in attendance.
Re: Next Shutout! Rapids/Burn 6/19 pre/post WOOHOO! Another tie! WOOHOO! We scored! Life just doesn't get any better than this....
That stupid Magic 8 Ball just won't go away! Dropping it on my big left toe has led to a prediction, a curse, a swirling vision, and a few tears: ...Our Burn friends are so uncertain about the team's play this year they've already decided to change the name and address for next year, hoping nobody will remember the great rout of 2004, which starts with a tie vs. the Rapids this Saturday, and continues with a desperate and successful run towards the bottom of the standings... As I said, 1-1 tie this Saturday, followed by a forgetful 2nd half of the season, after which they move from the Cotton Bowl, don't leave a forwarding address for Scott Garlick, and change their name to the Texas (Soccer) Rangers.... Phew, quite the vision. Unfortunately, the Magic 8 Ball ended up on an edge and my toe is throbbing, so I can't give a more exact prediction at this time. Ask me again later. Cheers, BilFish
Anybody notice ZiZi is back on the IR as questionable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- GOOD!
I have to think recent employment re-direction is a sign of two things: a) no matter what the staff and players are saying about how proud they are, somebody recognized that change must happen. b) they are actually making changes. Two (admittedly bench) players in a week is a pretty big change for a club...given that the Rapids' bench has been light lately in a time where we need some sort of new energy or vibe to come off the bench and help the team get its act together. Cheers, BilFish
cool so how close am I to winning the prize about ZiZi getting injured? Maybe we could up his salary to the max.
Wow. It's like Jamestown around here. For heaven's sake don't drink the kool-aid. You guys must really be sucking hard lately to predict a home rout at the hands of Dallas. Yeah, we've won two in a row, but we haven't exactly looked good doing it, and we'll be missing Gibbs and Valakari, in other words our entire defense. If you can't get it done tomorrow, you're in bad, bad shape.
We're obviously in bad shape if we're releasing players in order to bring in Joey Digiamarino. It wasn't Jamestown but I think Counce's days on the corner of Haight and Asbury have resurfaced!
