Andriy Shevchenko to join LA  ??

    Far-fetched?? Probably .. ..

But, LALAS did intimate that there was another high-brow signing to come in the next few weeks .. ..

And, overrated Andriy Shevchenko was quoted that he wants to follow BECKs to MLS, and Los Angeles .. ..

With those two comments, it sure begins to taste a lot like the pre-Becks comments by both sides .. ..

Perhaps Andriy has a girlfriend/wife from the area, has business contacts, or just wants a change, (ala Frank LeBoeuf) .. ..

Anyhow - It's just interesting how all the comments seem very familiar .. ..

I believe his wife is from the DC area. When he comes to play in MLS it will be for DC not LA. I would guess that wouldn't be until his contract w/ Chelsea is fulfilled.

"High brow" as in cranium features, or as in intellect?

Why do you offer Frank LeBouf as an example when that never happened?

I wouldnt exactly call Shevchenko overrated. 73 caps and 33 goals for his national team.

Also, there is a decent sized Russian and Ukrainian immigrant population in Hollywood area. If LAGs tapped into that market I would consider Lalas a genius. I take my wife to the russian district once in a while to pick up some foods and wine. Ive chatted with the shop keepers around there and they are all well versed on soccer, even a little bit about MLS, which shows their interest in soccer in general IMO. You'd definitely have a lot of hollywood money at the LAG games (i guess they will raise prices of beer after all d@mnit).

    Taken from his wiki page:

He won the 2004 European Footballer of the Year award, and was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in 2004. He was also named a starting striker on the 2005 FIFPro World XI team. He is also the second-highest goal scorer of all-time in European club competitions with 59 goals, behind only Gerd Müller.

Yeah, not his fault that Mourinho played him out of position, and didn't really want him on the team to begin with. Being a consistent scorer in Serie A is more impressive than in England, I think.

LE BOEUF is an intersting dude .. .. He was one who wanted to get as far away from FRA as he could and live the 'quiet' life - Maybe ANDRIY wants the same thing for a bit .. ..

When HERR JURGEN was around all the time - FRANK used to show up at training and train with the side now and then .. .. He even turned up for some reserve matches in case they needed him to sign an one-day contract to fill out the side - Like ALEXI & CHUCK KIM did whenever they were short-handed .. ..

It was always widely-thought that should LA ever get short-handed at the back, we would stay in shape in case he needed to be signed .. ..

And, he's always in the HDC Press Box and playing in the media matches .. ..

I guess, he salted away a good bit of his salary when he was playing and is enjoying retired life around the team .. ..

What I'm missing here is how Galaxy can end up with so many DP slots ?

Do all the other clubs not have the money to use their DP slots ?

I dont like speculating much, but Sheva's admission that he wants to play here blew me away.

I think he'll be amazing, but I dont expect him here for a while. Give him another year of failure at Chelsea then I think we'll see him here.

Speaking of signings, someone in the RSL forums posted that Jeff Cunningham was traded to the Gals. Do you know anything about this?

    Why would RSL do that?

If RSL starts Harris and Esky then Cunningham is a big salary on the books. And maybe he and Kreis don't get along.

OK, he turns 31 in august, so not too bad.
well, we'd have some speed with donovan, findley and cunningham running at defenders.

Uhhh, today during the Champions League final, the announcer hinted that he's most likely to sign with AC Milan since his wife has been wanting to return to Milan.

given a chance to go to either ACMilan or LAGalaxy, I'm sure he'd pick the Galaxy.
I'm going to be in Milan in a few weeks visiting family, if I see him, I'll put in a good word for us. ; )

It's going to be Emile Heskey. Check out the power rankings on www.si.com underneath the LA galaxy. An interesting little tidbit there.

I have family in Milan. I've been there and am going again in a week. There are of course, beautiful women there, but I wouldn't rate them above LA. And not everyone dresses with style. There is a working class there too.

and since I didn't mention it yesterday..
    FORZA MIIIIILAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!

Very True. I was in Milan about 4 weeks ago (Duomo) when Inter won. I was really looking forward for the Milan babes but there weren't that many. I saw more tourists than anything. Their style of dressing is nothing out of the ordinary:rolleyes:

Well, if you're thinking that everys single person in Milan is wearing designer clothes, then that's a mistaken assumption. But really, that's like knowing that Wall Street is in Manhattan, then saying "pfft...I went to New York, and they're not all stockbrokers there."

When I moved to LA I thought it would be all health food restaurants and models. But there are more burger shacks here than anywhere else I've been and a pretty (un)healthy number of fat asses. I was thoroughly disappointed. Only about the fat asses part, that is.
