At 68 years of age, I think gianpiero Ventura is the oldest CT ever.

Nice being right. He is old and will make the National team his top priority.

And he is getting married to a younger woman this week. Pretty good life for a Senior I'd say.

Always wondered if he was related to Simona Ventura Stefano Bettarini's ex-wife?

I say the same thing. We just don't see the talent. A country like italy will never stop producing talent. We just don't utilize our youth and groom them properly anymore. For starters we don't invest into the youth system the way other countries (e.g. Germany) do. Look how well that worked out for them. We also don't give Italians a proper chance. I feel that most clubs always look to foreign players instead of looking at the talent at home. Also, a lot of guys show potential and get bought up but then sit and rot on the bench when they should be seeing playing time that is crucial for their development. We should really have a reserve league in Italy so these guys can play regularly after first team games that they don't play in.

Thats one of the reasons Sassuolo is like Juventus B team, so we can loan youth talent to Sassuolo to get playing time and develop.

Which is smart but a b league gives an infinite amount of more playing time to everyone. If juve had that they could loan some guys out and play some on their b team. Sassuolo could be playing a bunch of other Italians that are developing.

Luckily for what you said, Marotta realizes it and it looks like it will come to fruition. There is an initiative to scrap the youth league altogether and have B teams. That way, the talented Italian's can develop and Italy can get back to the top. Off the top of my head, guys like Rolando Mandragora, Stefano Sensi, Daniele Rugani, Alessio Romagnoli, Davide Calabria, Manuel Locatelli etc. There's so much talent that's evident. Verratti was just the tip of the iceberg. For Italy to get back to the top, it's going to start with youth. It's no coincidence that the Serie A was as strong historically when it was when there wee lots of talented Italian's too.

A God exists. First the rumours of a youth change in Italy and now a coach to take over who gives chances to youth all the time. Yes!

isn't it ironic that one of the oldest candidates out there gives us the best chance at playing youth more regularly

Yes lol. Surprisingly so. You would expect him to be similar to Lippi in 2010, but not even close.

I doubt it. He'll probably start bringing in the obviously talented youth.

IMHO, Ranocchia is not a bum. He's a good defender on a terrible team with a terrible back line. He would do better if he would move away... but tbh it might be too late after his confidence levels are obviously at rock bottom.

Just curious, does or has any CT bring inexperienced youth to the important qualifying games?

Yeah I'm wondering how much time/matches he'll have before WC qualifying starts.

But tbh, the current team has a fair amount of youth as is. There's only maybe 2-3 names that should be brought in right now... Berardi, Baselli, Jorginho.... and then possibly Bonaventura, Benassi, Belotti (all B's!). And then depending on how this tournament goes, he might clear out the Juve-block for a back 4. That'll probably be his biggest decision.

Veratti supposedly will be back and so will Marchisio. DeRossi still may be there as of now but if he has a bad euro he won't be back. Barzagli will also be 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around so you can bet he will be gone.

Your opinion is way wrong lmao. Ranocchia is a massively huge bum and always has been. His bum mistakes are the fault of his self and no one elses. Bum bum bum.

Anyway, people happy about ventura, hold your horses. You do not know if he will use youth because he has managed clubs where they need to grow youth to sell them. Plus he hasn't done anything special. I remember far too many games where his team is feeble and negative, like the first halfs this season against juve and Napoli for example.

Also isn't his favourite formation 3-5-2? I will not judge him until his first game, based strictly on players he calls up and formation. Don't forget he has a world cup to qualify for, so do not be surprised if he just does what every Italy manager does, the same unimaginative shit as the previous manager and just calls up the same ol bum names like montolivo, motta, giac etc.
