France is actually a bit like England in that their football isn't known for tactical innovation or producing top managers.

We should get the Moroccan manager after the World Cup

That’s true. They used to be several French managers in the PL now there is none. Still a lot French managers in the French league than English ones in the PL.

Wrong thread Tito, unless it’s something to do with the managers thread? Lol

Social media is full of Pochentino or Tuchel for England. It will be fun to see the reaction when Rodgers or Lampard or Sean Dyche is hired,

The FA do things very differently to what people will expect and the next manager will need to be a similar fit to Southgate in terms of personality, seeing the big picture, managing across all disciplines and long-term player development. Cannot see them going for a big name, but it's exceptionally hard to predict who fits the bill.

This is not a good moment for a change, can't see anyone free AND better than Southgate.

Who cares about the Euros anyway …
It’s like winning the championship basically

Wouldn't mind Rodgers. He'd suit our attacking players.

Southgate might not want to carry on.

Southgate probably won't leave yet. His contract is until Euros.

It's unlikely anyone is going to do meaningfully better than Southgate, England's issues lie in the players not the manager.

It's even less likely someone will do better when you see the options available.

If Southgate was to step down, which I doubt he will, the FA should move heaven and Earth to keep him within the FA. He’s a very smart guy and knows what is needed deep down at grassroots and development, he and Ashworth did a great job with the foundations so I think that’s something that’s essential.

    Agreed

Time to play to our strengths not the managers

    Stats for Southgate ..

In his time we have played 24 times against top 10 rated teams ….

We have only won 4 out if 24 !!!

Statistically we are extremely unlikely to ever win a competition with him in charge ..

Unless he gets a decent strategist /tactics guy to work alongside him .

Although we should have done that after his first first World Cup failure ..

It's clear I think that Howe doesn't want the job. That leaves Potter, Cooper and Carsley as the most obvious candidates. I think and hope that it will be Carsley.

I expect Carsley too. Would also be fine with that.

I would want Carsley but I’m not sure it will be him as he could get the Irish job well before the Euros.
