Next England manager must 'win a major tournament', FA says in job advert for vacant role Read more🔗https://t.co/YaZXHPbyBv— Sky News (@SkyNews) July 19, 2024
https://www.hitc.com/england-favour...fa-approach-as-he-discusses-newcastle-future/ .sources have further backed this up by telling us that if offered the Three Lions role, he would NOT turn it down.
I don't know, I think you can read between the lines of Howe's comments that he'd seriously consider an offer from the FA. He made the kinds of comments that he has to make while he's still employed by Newcastle, but when he was given the opportunity to shut down the England chat unambiguously, he suddenly got very evasive. It's encouraging really.
I do also wonder if the FA will hire Carsley as an interim with the hope Howe becomes free soon enough.
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/so...r-this-is-how-the-contenders-rank/ar-BB1qhc5V England publish job advert for Gareth Southgate’s successor – this is how the contenders rank Mauricio Pochettino 19/25 Thomas Tuchel 17/25 Eddie Howe 16/25 Ange Postecoglou 15/25 Graham Potter 14/25 Lee Carsley 14/25
If that's actually true it'd rule out Lampard for good. He doesn't meet half of that criteria, one being he doesn't actually hold a pro license.
How does he not have one? He managed Chelsea for nearly two years! If that is true does Carsley have one?
I don't really know how he managed it tbh. You're supposed to have a pro license to be the head coach of teams above U18 level at the elite level so I'd very much assume Carsley has one.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE 🚨Trent Alexander-Arnold has backed Jurgen Klopp for the England job - and responded to Gary Lineker's criticism during #Euro2024✍️ @jeremyatmirrorhttps://t.co/D2rXxlBDK8 pic.twitter.com/ShlV2leTrm— Mirror Football (@MirrorFootball) July 20, 2024
Tuchel seems to align as the best option right now in my opinion. He has experience with English football, he has proven pedigree of advancing in major competitions and winning major trophies and he is an affordable and realistic elite option for the FA, when Guardiola and Klopp probably are not. Carsley could potentially be promoted into the senior set up as an assistant manager and work as Tuchel's understudy which gives England the best of both worlds, a proven trophy winner in charge and a home grown manager developing as part of the set up as well
I don't really see Tuchel as viable, so much has been made of the culture Southgate built up with the squad, and Tuchel is so notoriously difficult in his relationships with players and higher ups. I'd imagine the FA would view Tuchel as high risk as being another Capello situation.
I agree. It just doesn’t feel like something the FA would do. He didn’t really devlop Englosh talent much - James, Chilwell ans Mount were all playing well under Lampard. I am not sure about that article clamming he had to have a harmonious dressing room to win the CL - plenty of divided dressing rooms have won trophies.
https://www.msn.com/en-my/sports/fo...-will-get-so-much-as-a-phone-call/ar-BB1qmEsA Harry Redknapp calls for Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard to be the next manager.
Absolutely nothing to do with Lampard being his nephew of course. You'd think Uncle Harry would pull a few strings and sort him out one of those UEFA Pro Licences. Young Frank's not getting an interview without one.
Apparently quite a lot of Maltese support England. An interesting historical moment is that in 1956 Malta held a referendum on joining UK which returned a yes vote. The UK turned down the application based on the low turnout and fears that other colonies would want to be fully integrated into the UK.
I've been, nice friendly people. I doubt they'll be breaking any England Manager news in their daily paper any time soon!
EXCLUSIVE Newcastle hold clear-the-air talks with Eddie Howe amid England links #nufc https://t.co/7VqkCHSwOa— Luke Edwards (@LukeEdwardsTele) July 22, 2024 ‘Newcastle United have held clear-the-air talks with Eddie Howe over his future at the club and are confident he would reject any potential interest from England.’
I think we should give carsley an opportunity. He knows the youngsters. He'll keep progressing the kids through to the full team. If it doesn't work out he can step back into the under 21s and we'll have hopefully the likes of klopp and pep available in a year's time
Are the "Klopp or Pep" guys so distrustful of English players that they think only star coaches can get results with them?
