Will the Netherlands be the new Hungary of Europe? Once great, but slipped into mediocrity?

  1. That's an understatement. It is going to be far worse.

    10.9%
  2. I agree, we will slip into severe mediocrity. Hungary sounds about right.

    5.5%
  3. No, not really, we will be the new Belgium, that so now and then will produce a Hazard through luck.

    20.9%
  4. No, football is a cyclical thing, in a few years we will be as strong as always.

    46.4%
  5. What a ridiculous Poll. Netherlands will even improve over time and finally win the WC.

    16.4%

LOL Hungary has surpassed us on the FIFA rankings.

Such a disgrace. Glad Blind left but we need some reorganisation in the KNVB.

Title needs to be changed to:

Will the Netherlands be WORSE THAN Hungary? Once great, but slipped into mediocrity?

With nice coach, things could be better. Grim won't make any fairy tales. The solutions are van Basten, van Gaal, Rijkaard...a lot of new players in recent months. Defence is not good, a lot of new players without experience.

Strange, opponents always score against Netherlands, even Luxembourg in the last year. Bulgaria is a weak team now. Hard to understand how could Netherlands lose that match. Maybe early goal became crucial and fanatical Bulgarian fans. I don't see any other rational reason. With those two reasons, game quality can become weaker.

I noticed that Netherlands started to love close family relations in the national team. Father - son, father of his wife became coach, he became the team captain. I noticed today the son of Kluivert in Ajax.

The brothers connection gave us better performance than father-son (Blind, Cruyff, Kluivert?). Muhren, Van de Kerkhof, Koeman, Witschge, De Boer are the famous ones. De Jong is the last one that we have (not as great as others). Perhaps we can hope for the Kongolo brothers (Terence and Rodney).

^^^^Also have Fosu-Mensah brothers; younger one is an Ajax youth. Also the Maduro twins are also in the Ajax youth system. OK, it's still too early to say whether these kids make it but it would be cool.

  9. There are also the Kongolo brothers! And the Pierie brothers (now US fans get stressed;))
Maybe we get the Orange Brotherhood:)

Brothers connection was good, but every other connection after World Cup 1998 was not that good. I mean mostly on father - son, father of someone's wife...nepotism - usual definition of relations in southern Europe, which surprises in case of Netherlands.
Brothers Sneijder also exist. Younger one is weak. Ronald de Boer depended a lot on his brother Frank. He wasn't that good in central part, like his brother Frank in defence and with free kicks.
Father of Kluivert is Kenneth Kluivert, player of Suriname NT.

^^^ If he is like President Trump who cannot get fired, can he be impeached for lying? They should add a clause for all KNVB officials: They shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of Bribery, High Crimes and Misdemeanors (perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, conduct unbecoming). It sounds like perjury of oath to me. Replace him with King Louis and see what the King can do.
