If you can't respond to posts and have a decent idea of what's actually being said, that's on you as you're nowhere near anything that I've posted. Nowhere near. Sad.
Biesla has the players that can legitimately play his system, although they had a hard time with us the entire time until the phantom goal.
Who? People not throwing a fit and reinforcing the impact of a 17th minute red vs the impact of a late-half sub adjustment... that is not people defending Gregg. So many people keep saying this over and over, and they are clearly wrong. They just don't care. But that argument is about putting blame for a bad result where it belongs.
I am left to speculate on your inference if you aren’t explicit. I guess as @gogorath said - it isn’t that different from his day job skill set.
Does this Klopp thing have any legs? I got all excited when a friend messaged just “Klopp?” to me. As long as we hire guys with superfluous double letters, there should be some good continuity.
We have the 4th most expensive roster in Copa for the same reason England has the most expensive roster in the Euro by far: price does not equal value! England and the USA are just wealthier and can pay more for their own players, or have Englishmen and American wealthy people in charge of big business that owns clubs or invests in clubs pay more for their co-nationals. It's not about selling shirts but marketing your club to brands that are dying to do business in the two wealthiest markets in the world.
Except it's not. Berhalter is 44-13-15. There is less talent in the pool, but his winning % is not better. He'd need to win 15+ straight.
I watch them play week after week. Saying none of them outside Pulisic (and possibly Dest, who wasn't there) are not "stars" for their clubs is accurate.
Most understand that the expectations for Canada is very different than for the USMNT. Canada made history in getting out of the group. Getting out of group was a "A" grade for them and Jesse managed to that expectation. If we had gone through on GD there would have been elation not a hissy fit.
We must find a better CB pair than Richards-Ream. With Ream's decline, it's only going to get worse. And we're stuck with Turner.
“Hatred” was dark knight’s word. You got lost there a bit and (hopefully accidentally) responded about something else. Just a misunderstanding between the two of you I wanted to clear up, I’m pretty sure.
Canada have a player who has been world Best XI and probably the best striker in the region. They crowned themselves Kings of CONCACAF. People are pumping up Marsch because they dislike Berhalter.
I'm wondering why some people can't just say "Well done neighbors". Canada advanced from tougher group than hours, and red cards, Xgs, etc. is just nonsense.
By any metric England has one of the more talented rosters in the world. With transfer value specifically it’s also driven by youth, which I think advantages us compared to someone like Colombia. But I also think our talent level is right there with Colombia so 4th in the tournament is not far off from where we actually are.
Too early to be really be able to tell. I imagine they wouldn’t have serious discussions with him until Berhalter is officially let go.
Let's fire him today, and see whom we can get after that. Otherwise he won't be fired period. There are dozens of coaches that are better than poor Gregg, and if we get just a good one rather than great it will be a huge progress.
Tournament soccer has a ton of variance. Being one of the more talented teams doesn’t mean that you’ll win. Brazil also has a ton of talent and they haven’t won a World Cup in more than 22 years.
Good question. For me, I don't mind some level of pragmatism, but I want us to play soccer. We can't just bunker and hope for a fortunate goal. In more practical terms, Morocco's results from the last World Cup would not justify the style they played. It's hard to say exactly where the rubber meets the road, but I want us to knock the ball around more than that.
