Mourinho is completelly outdated on his football approach, No, please stay away. And he would create conflicts with half of the squad.

I think because Portugal have a good crop of coaches to choose from. But in saying that I would not be apposed to a foreign coach at all. Just long as he/she gets results...

In terms of foreign coaches. I would take: Conte, Wenger, Rodgers, Bielsa, Favre and Gallardo. LVG maybe...

My 2 choices for the job would be AVB or Vitor Pereira. But nothing of that will happen because Mendes is not their agent. And forget top foreign coaches at clube level, none of them would take the nonsense of being told to not upset that Gestifute mob who runs the Federation.

Seeing the poll it is a tie now so far between Leonardo Jardim and Andre Villas-Boas

This is not mentioned enough, but Santos has enormous issues slaying the South American goliath in the knockout phase.

    - Lost on penalties with Greece against Costa Rica in the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup.

    - Lost on penalties to Chile with Portugal at the 2017 Confederations Cup.

    - Lost to Uruguay in the Round of 16 with Portugal in 90 minutes at the 2018 World Cup.

Fernando Santos is not getting better against South American teams, he is getting WORSE.

Or I wouldn't be surprised if Portugal has one of their former legends/players take over as manager...I mean most nations nowadays do that even so it won't surprise me if a former player throws their name into the hat to be manager

At this point i dont know whos holding us back more. Ronaldo or Santos. We played good under Santos when he didnt feature. It was our best performances actually.

Whoever takes over, will be forced to keep starting Ronaldo.

But the thing is, Ronaldo is turning 37 and the only way he's dropped is if he falls off hard between now and the next 18 months because it won't happen

back of my mind, yes I think this team would play better as a team w/o CR but tactics matter, I don't like FS... so I don't agree.

Scolari frustrated me against Greece, but I just think suitable coach that plays diamond and our young guys.

We played well without Ronaldo in games that didn't matter. It doesn't say anything. The only one that mattered was the 2016 final where we defended for our lives, which is what we needed to do, but don't see it as a template of any sort for the current players.

The problem isn't Ronaldo, it's not partnering him with A. Silva and playing out of form players.

Guys, simply put, this nation has the players to at the very least make every final four of competition. We don’t have the coach for it . Even if the players that he called up and used were wrong, they were still good enough to get a better result than we did. He used the wrong players and the wrong tactics, not to mention used players out of position. In my humble opinion, we need a foreign coach with no ties to any team, any agent or organization. The coach would also have to open to a more free flowing game that IMO would suit Portugal better

simply put... We don't play the way we're capable of bc of wrong formation.

4-4-2 (d) is the only way I see our full potential, without ronaldo, 4-3-3 it's our best chance to attack with fast wingers... But what the he'll did bernardino/jota really do?

But you're right... Field the right players and you'll get results.

Yeah Bernardo should be playing CM not RW. In fact, there was no natural right winger on the field or bench on any of the games. Not sure why Santos kept forcing the 433...

100% the diamond utilises our player the best currently and allows our substitutions to also fit into this system. Watching Spain play with Olmo and Pedri in midfield does my head in when I think of the double pivot we started with. Bruno & Bernardo need to
    Start in midfield.

Agreed. In fact, I made this right after the loss and couldn't help but think how much better the team would have done. Especially, if they started with Ronaldo and Andre Silva at forwards with Bruno and Bernardo in the natural positions. Screenshot_20210627-205234_Samsung Internet.jpg
