Sources: There was NEVER a USSF delegation “trip” to see Mauricio Pochettino in Spain. It was all signed and agreed to virtually by both camps. Right now, Pochettino is officially the USMNT Head Coach. Announcement 🔜 ✍🏼🇺🇸— Jose Alvaro Tejano Deportes 🇲🇽🇺🇸 (@tejanodeportes) September 7, 2024 This guy is doubling down
You could have put me instead of Gregg, and that would be the same stone/trajectory blah blah blah, while I charge less. And my late grandma would have looked good compared to Klinsmann, and she is dead for 50 years.
So much discussion about the coach and it certainly matters but having dynamic players that play consistently well for the USMNT is our biggest issue. Compared to Canada we are SUPER deep WRT to players that can come on for the NT and give a good shift but Canada's starting 11 is filled with difference-makers and ours is not. When Davies and Bombito are on the pitch Canada can pound numbers forward w/o worrying about the counter. We have literally zero CBs on the horizon that are nearly as athletic as Bombito... I can't think of one. Now, Bombito is not all that great passing out of the back but when he makes mistakes Davies can cover and Bombito can often catch up as well. Those two in the back make Canada a force. Especially considering the pace they have on the wings and the skill they have at the double-striker position. Again, if they lost Davies or Bombito I think they go from better than us to not. But right now.... they have a better starting 11.
There's still time to bring back GGG. Under him, the players actually looked like they wanted to be there. Now that he's gone, so is the intensity.
If the deal really isn't done yet, the price just went up after Poch watched that mess... This may be the worst run of results in recent #USMNT memory. Pochettino can’t come soon enough. pic.twitter.com/2aUYXDYYne— Alex Calabrese (@amcalabrese12) September 7, 2024 Wonder if Poch’s having second thoughts after this half hour of play…— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) September 7, 2024 Did you see Poch? The entire coaching staff was Gregg's boys from Mikey Varas to Nico Estevez
oh no I like that guy read his timeline I mean he said it would be announced wed...then this this weekend...now its 'will be announced soon' lol he doesn't know anything he is just taking shots in the dark figuring he will eventually be right and he'll just pin that and say 'see I had inside info' lol.
@TacticalManager stated on his live stream of today's match that the players were told to expect to meet Poch in Cincinnati. Tac is connected to Johnny's family.
Some learn from the best.Others learn from unqualified morons like Gregg Berhalter pic.twitter.com/09iyhhpUeg— Junior F. (@yeWolf989) September 8, 2024 Bradley coaching tree >> Gregg coaching tree The Gregg coaching tree has to be among the least impressive in history between Gregg (fired from the Swedish second division and zero trophies in MLS where he was just around average), Nico Estevez (fired), Luchi Gonzalez (fired), Anthony Hudson (lasted 3 games in Qatar), Josh Wolff (Austin are crap over the last two seasons), BJ Callaghan (still WINLESS in Nashville), Mikey Varas, etc.
What's truly incredible is how many "I'm smarter than you because I'm old" types here love to criticize random dummies on social media for bashing US Soccer... meanwhile we've had some incredible records being broken over the last few years, failing to get out of the group at a home tournament, losses by historic margins at the Olympics, and just today the first home loss to Canada since 1957... https://i.imgur.com/iP42wHz.gif
ESPN: USMNT continues to make history for all the wrong reasons oh well, history for all the wrong reasons is still making history
Not great that we keep letting this guy dunk on us... How'd it feel to beat the U.S. for Jesse Marsch? 👀🎙️ "I'd rather coach our team 100%, no questions asked – I'd much rather coach the #CanMNT than the #USMNT right now."▶️ FULL PRESSER on OS YouTube pic.twitter.com/HE3rFjB2Ha— OneSoccer (@onesoccer) September 7, 2024
This dude is toying with us... humiliating "I'm going to say 2-1." 😯@JimmyConrad, @CharlieDavies9 & @TMeola1 OF COURSE asked Canada Manager @jessemarsch his scoreline prediction of USMNT-Canada this Saturday 😂 pic.twitter.com/RXhBIiQZMs— Golazo America (@GolazoAmerica) September 4, 2024
Well, our interim coach who'd never been the head coach of adult pros was outcoached badly by a guy who'd coached in the Champions League. What does it mean for Poch? Nothing. I do think that people have made Berhalter the scapegoat for what's happened recently in this cycle. That's fine. That's the deal when you're the head coach. The players should bear equal responsibility, though. The lack of heart and fight yesterday (particularly in the first half) had nothing to do with Berhalter. We've seen quite a bit of that of late. I have no idea why. Really weird, because as a USMNT fan that's something we've rarely had to worry about. I threw the remote across the room in the 15th minute, and the score was still 0-0. The entire team standing around looking at each other. No runs being made. Nobody showing for the ball. What the hell? What we saw yesterday was one group of guys playing as a well-organized team and another group of individuals totally out of synch with each other. That's something a coach like Poch can fix. But perhaps its a bigger job than any of us thought. Because perhaps the problem was bigger than Berhalter.
Perhaps GGG and US soccer perpetuated a climate of lowered expectations. Remember the whole Copa thing where it's a growing experience, instead of we are going to go out and try to win it.
