A complete joke of a federation. It should be federation rule over league, not league controlling federation. MARK MY WORD! 2022 WON BE HAPPENING! See you guys in 2026.
What's the general feeling around the US mens team at the moment guys? Good or bad? I haven't been able to watch your team since the friendly at Wembley a couple of years ago. (apols)
A ton of hype. Guys getting major minutes at places like Leipzig, Juventus, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Dortmund all at the same time is pretty unheard of. There's still some major questions at striker and to a lesser extent CB (our best CB has a long history with injuries)
So if the rumors of an all Euro camp next month are true, I guess I'd go with this as an all European roster GK: Steffen, Horvath FB: Dest, Cannon, Ream, Robinson CB: Brooks, Richards, Palmer-Brown, Miazga CM: Adams, McKennie, Morales (if he's healthy in time, if not Mendez) AM: Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Llanez, Konrad, Boyd FW: Sargent, Johansson, Gioachinni, Nova
I'd bring Green too. Maybe even Cappis and Amon. Yedlin if healthy and Shaq Morroe and CCV. I think you play one game with the A team and one with the B team. So, you can bring more guys. Even that GK kid from Porto.
I wouldn't bring Ream as we need a look at all the other CB options like CCV and definitely not as a fullback, otherwise your squad is spot on imo.
Saw the Mexico - Netherlands game and we may be awfully excited about our young guns, but Mexico has plenty of talent that is already coalescing into a strong, effective team. We haven't even sorted out the various parts yet with the combo of all our best players being kids just coking into the team and Covid preventing much activity. We really need a November camp unless we just want to go ahead and accept fighting for second.
Yup. We have more talented young kids. In every other facet Mexico is miles ahead of us right now and I for one do not subscribe to the old Karl K maxim that talent is the only thing that matters. Mexico is what we always used to be, a well drilled and cohesive squad with a plan that is greater than the sum of it's parts.
I'd find a way to call up CCV and Ledezma as well. If there's extra camp room, I'd try to get Gloster and Cameron Harper in camp for a look, even though I suspect neither is quite ready yet. I might also give Bryang Kayo a hook, simply because our 8 situation is so weak in Europe past our starters.
We should 100% bring Ream for vet leadership. Very professional and hardworking, deserves to be in this group on merit too. If we need to bring extra defenders we should — lol at bringing someone like Mendez. More supportive at speculatively bringing other guys such as Konrad/Llanez/Ledezma than someone such as Mendez (although leaving any of those three off for someone like Green would be fine by me).
GK: Steffen, Horvath FB: Dest, Cannon, Robinson, Araujo(if LA miss the playoffs) CB: Brooks, Richards, Palmer-Brown, Miazga CM: Adams, McKennie, Green, Holmes, Ledezma AM: Pulisic, Reyna, Llanez, Konrad, Boyd FW: Efford, Sargent, Gioachinni, Nova Would let Weah stay with his club. He needs to get minutes to demonstrate fitness and durability. That should happen at club level. Of the forwards, Efford has the best g/a per 90 at the mid-tier level or higher. I'd consider veteran leadership to embody someone who has had success at the highest levels of the game relative to the pool. Someone who has played in the World Cup. Someone who has had success in the top-5.
Yup. We can't have a defense of all kids..................we do need to bring a guy in for leadership. Even if its just in the locker room as an assistant coach. I don't think we need to cap the number of players brought into this camp. Bring 30 for all I care. Mendez, Harper, Gomez, Kobe Hernandez, Kayo,.....................whomever the staff wants to take a look at. There aren't U23 and U20 camps right now, so keeping some of these kids in the loop (particularly dual nationals) is a good thing.
Yeah, bring them all. Start Robinson/Brooks/Miazga/Dest in the first game and Dest/Ream/Richards/Yedlin in the second. Sub in CCV and EPB and Cannon into both.
I'm pretty sure Jonathan Brooks isn't a 'kid'. He can provide 'veteran leadership'. And he's actually a high-level player.
I like this list overall. The only glaring omission to me is Holmes. Beyond that, I agree with other posters that CCV should be called in as well, and Yedlin should be brought in if he’s healthy. Mainly to see how both of them compare to our other CBs and FBs in a camp. I’d drop Nova, Gioachinni, and probably Boyd to get these players in if the list needs to be kept to 23. The possibility of seeing: ———————Sargent——————— Pulisic————Reyna————Konrad —————Mckennie—Adams————— Robinson——Brooks—Richards——Dest ———————Steffen————————- Or something close to it, is pretty damn exciting.
Holmes has been battling injuries and not performing well from reports. I think he was very deserving last year but if he is not in-form makes sense to leave him out for now.
I understand this, but we don't really have any European based 8s besides Mckennie, Holmes and Morales playing at a relatively high level. I've never been a big fan of Morales, and with his age I think it's a much better idea to be looking at Holmes. If he's not fit, than yeah don't call him in, but if he's fit and available I do think it'd be foolish to not have him in camp.
