As expected, ESPN Inc. has decided to exit Asia completely by selling its 50% stake in ESPN STAR SPORTS (ESS) to NewsCorp. Peter Hutton will take over as Managing Director of ESS, replacing Manu Sawhney Source: SportBusiness.com's Matt Cutler in London via Twitter: https://twitter.com/mattycutler/status/210305754857603073
The two brands are "ESPN" and "STAR Sports". The ESPN-branded channels could conceivably be re-branded if desired. Don't know whether ESPNEWS India will be re-branded.
explain something to me... on may 15 in "English Premier League Uk Rights Tender For 2013-2016" you posted: am i missing something, or did your 'expectations' do a full reversal and if so, when and why?
I understand your question is rhetorical in nature, but we could create an entire new subforum entitled "Oliver Contradicts Himself" and it would be the most active forum on this site. Oliver's "expectations" stem from his fantasy world in which he is some type of player in the sports media industry. In reality, the closest he ever gets to the sports media industry is when he opens his monthly Directv invoice.
It looks like this is starting to happen now. http://www.firstpost.com/sports/fox-sports-replaces-espn-star-sports-in-asia-605941.html Some ESPN feeds has been rebranded to Fox and Sportscenter has been replace with Fox Sports Central. ESPNStar website is now redirecting to http://www.foxsportsasia.com/. The Indian subcontinent feed at the moment looks like it has been left alone
Yeah, I was just over in SE Asia and ESPN there became Fox Sports on Monday. The new channel showed some live college basketball from the Big Ten Network which is part-owned by Fox.
