David Bentley has been offered a Premier League lifeline by struggling West Ham, reports the Daily Mirror.

New Hammers owners David Gold and David Sullivan have made an enquiry about taking the Spurs outcast on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who knocked back attempts by Everton and Manchester City to sign him on loan last summer, is desperate to recoup all of his £15million outlay.

However, a lack of interest in the player has prompted Levy to reconsider his stance in the hope that a loan deal will allow the England international to rebuild his reputation and then clinch a permanent move.
