As a longtime friend and an ardent supporter of the type of soccer he wished to bring to Portland and has already brought to Utah, I wish him the best. It's not easy holding yourself or others to high standards on and off the pitch. I have to think the resignation was premature; the Timbers were a team on the rise but perhaps something more was in the mix. If it weren't for him about 75 at-risk youth in Salt Lake City would not have had a proper place to further their soccer education. They did and he was responsible. He is probably the most enthusiastic and selfless person I know. And the Jr. Blitzz program wouldn't have exploded as it had. Bottom line: Perhaps Portland blew it big time. Anyway, he gave them a road map; let's see if they follow it.
