Anyone doubting the worldwide fan appeal of Lewy only needs to look at the multitude of articles from dozens of countries speculating about a Fire signing. Never a doubt about the Chicago Polish community love for him. Assuming Lewy announcement today, TLB and Lewy in the same season! Talk about excited fans!
Update: Robert Lewandowski will not be at the Chicago Fire’s event at Recess today, Gregg Berhalter will be. Sources have said the visit went really well and this isn’t seen as a concern #cf97 #VamosFire https://t.co/lFKZeo8RhE— Joe Chatz (@JoeChatz) June 14, 2026
Eh Fire said I guess they weren't bothered by that......the one thing I'll say is if it's between us and the Saudi clubs, I think he chooses us unless he has been to Saudi Arabia to see their facilities.....this could've been just to double check and make sure this solidifies his decision to come here. Now if there is a European team that makes a late push then only then I could see it derailing it. What's interesting is Fabrizio said we were the leading team and that we are still going after big named players.....I know Goretzka was reported and then it died quickly but I wonder who else maybe we are talking too.....and if we get someone else it'd probably have to be a FA where we can sign them to max TAM the rest of the year and then DP after.....unless we ship out Bamba since the transfer fee makes people DP's.
Also this was from Tim Hotze: I am hearing real issue is just the number of items on schedule for his visit. Discussions about every detail of making life in Chicago works, it seems. Meeting supporters? Important.Housing options?More important. 🤣— Tim Hotze (@sing_electric) June 14, 2026
Wasn't there a rumor about Thursday? I can wait until then. No real rush since the Fire are not doing anything for another month. Besides, Lewy is an elite performer so I do not think he needs to be signed immediately so he can start training with the Fire. Still optimistic!
What’s great about Lewy is that he is loved by not just his home fans but you may as well throw in the Croatians Bosnians Serbs…mainly all of Central Europe… Croatians love the Polish national team mainly because of the ties, the same religious faith but we also view the Polish as just the very very fine nice group of people, and let’s just face the fact, Lewy is one ********ing hell of a Baller and he reminds me so much of Modric…just comes off like a good dude
Not worried about this not happening today. If, damn, excuse me, when it does come to pass, there'll be a bigger, more orchestrated roll out then would have been possible today.
Chicago Fire informed supporters talks going well but schedule won't allow Lewandowski to make a planned meetup with them planned for 5:30 PM here.Hearing privately that Lewa and his camp want to think everything over for a few days before deciding.#cf97 pic.twitter.com/kVvXWb7SKB— Tim Hotze (@sing_electric) June 14, 2026
So? Schweinsteiger did. Blanco did. Beckham did. Rooney did. There is no problem with a Fire team playing in Bridgeview, although I doubt they play there.
Beckham would have (Real Madrid won the league in 2006-07), but LAG only played the Fire in Carson California in 2007. Sadly, in 2008, he was injured.
“soon to be” must be quite a versatile player because pundit reviews give him many different playing styles, different strengths and different positioning on the field. Looks considerably less likely that he will sign with Fire but things can change and what do I know? ( no need to answer that.)
I have watched Goretzka for a decade or so. He would easily be the best player on the Fire NOT named Lewandowski.
Don’t want to over state it, but…if Joe and GGG can land Lewy and GOALretzka the club will enter into a joyous and historic chapter!!!
You probably noticed my post said nothing about any weaknesses. He has experienced quite a few injuries and well, (you know me) his age. Agree he is a really good player. Afraid he is so good that he will want a more “ elite” team and they will want him. Some indications of teams willing to pay him more than Lewy.
