One possibility is if Bamba were to be moved, spending on salary ceases to be an issue. Or some TAM magic which is always weird.
Bamba DP deal goes to 12-27 but could still be the route taken. Cuypers and Elliott are only high salary contracts expiring 12-26. And, yeah, there are some crazy TAM deals done. To do one, player would have to take an immense pay cut the first six months.
Though things like adidas side deals and other weirdness has been know to happen, to get things done. With league backroom blessing.
The structural ‘trick’ is a combination of 1) on a free, 2) max TAM level comp this half season 3) a ‘salary elevator’ that guarantees 2027 salary above $1.8m DP threshold (up to any number the club can afford) 4) we then have to move a DP (likely Bamba but maybe Cuypers). Being added mid-year means a prorated half-season budget charge ($401k), as is the TAM needed to buy it down. if the deal is say 2-1/2 yrs, ~1mil for 6mo and the 8m?x2yrs would be a healthy $17m total
Thank you. Your “Max TAM” deal is really a “interim TAM/mostly DP “ deal ( ala Miami). This approach requires a DP be available shortly. $17, why not 27 or 37? Not sure how MLS decides. $17 million over 2.5 years is way higher than TAM limits no matter how you cut it. Is there a way to utilize a signing bonus (free agent)?

My friend just bought season tickets for the first time. He was in line with 160 people ahead of him. He went to checkout three times and got "tickets not available anymore" messages. 200 level sold out, he got 2 seats in 143.
Just saw that the most expensive seats in the house, field side, are sold out for 2027 in the last hour. I just want all the clowns that claimed Lewandowski would not have an effect on attendance and season tix to eat crow.
