    I mean, it’s on topic…
    2026 roster speculation
    Resource/budget efficiency
and a much bigger ‘issue’ than a $150k for an INTL tag.

    Keeping it real:coffee:

Agreed, that year Gimenez was not a DP and his whole salary was TAM just sucked for the budget hit.

Oh, wait, you mean Kacper when he was benched in favor of Koutsias and Duran.

    Got it.

I see, so Zinckernagel (our max TAM in 2026) is going to be on the bench?!?

    Bite your tongue, sir!

Our great and precious Zinckernagel will be starting and leading the team, as he should.

    I'll try again.
You really think they gave Pineda THAT big of a raise yesterday?
    I don't think so.

Sounds like it's time to refresh your memory of the depth chart!
Unfortunately most only show the immediate backups, not the backups to the backups...so you still won't see the worst value (that is medically cleared to play).

Nah. It is really not that important.

You just need to get over your myopia.

When Acosta leaves after the season, one wonders who will be the next victim you relentlessly attack.

There has to be someone. It took you seconds to refocus your unhinged hatred from our former No. 10 to Acosta.

Maybe someone currently on the roster, maybe it could be some new signing that does not perfectly fit into your narrow world view.

I am predicting Jonathan Bamba (we have seen signs of that already)

    We'll see.

Not thinking a big raise. Only a small raise, if any.

Of course it was a moderate raise.
That was part of the joke.

I am glad to see Fire are thinking ahead and completing some of the year end items requiring only small investments of time while finishing out this season. Helps reduce workload crunch then (and provides distraction from last match).

    Oh, 100%!
    Lock these kids in now.
If they continue to improve and turn out like we expect (Oregel and Brady, I think Pineda is at his zenith now. Note that is not a criticism, he is a valuable and versatile role player), we have two positions resolved and/or they can make the move abroad and we collect nice fees.

Joe Mansueto is basically doing everything correctly.

From the big things (training and, of course, the stadium)
    To
Moves like these, he is doing precisely what the "former owner/operator" would not and could not do.

It sucks that the results on the field are not there yet, but I daresay that nobody here would argue he does not have the team and organization pointing in the right direction.

I know, I know, take that shit to the Optimism Thread.

Victim :ROFLMAO: The list of players you have lambasted is so long, but I don't get to have 2?!

It's not hard to see the pattern...when a single player is made out to be 'the solution' or 'the one we will build around' turns out to be a dud they absolutely should be the recipient of critique!

As to your cheeky white font guess Bamba, he's not as hot as we'd hope, but he's not close to being a dud. He is expensive, but he actually tries and doesn't underwhelm like the prior duds.

Really hoping we don't have a clear dud in 2026...but that might require a buyout:eek:

Unless something unannounced has occurred, Acosta still has one year left on his contract -so we can enjoy the Acosta topic for another full year.
Or maybe something (Buyout) will happen.

I am presuming a buyout or other disposition of the services of Kellyn Acosta occurs after the season.

I am not ready to give up on Kouamé yet, but since he is just on loan, I do not really see a reason to extend the loan. $670,000 we can put towards a different player.

He may be a quality player for all we know. Or he could be a dud. Or a bad fit.
    How do you know which?
With an estimated acquisition fee ( a guess) of $2.0 million plus three contract at a $690,000 salary, he would take about $1,357,000 of Fire Budget Resources.
    He is not cheap!

    Looks like Franco will
    Progressive, I like it.
It’s a tough pill for a ‘successful’ player to swallow…despite being in both party’s best interest.

If Fire increased Oregel to $250,000, what would be a fair salary for Acosta?
Somehow I do not think Acosta will play for $125,000.
Is he even worthy of a roster spot?

I don’t think it’s ‘harsh’ from you. Usually it’s just completely incongruous like someone asks “How could we improve attendance?” And you respond with “Well maybe if our fourth string player wasn’t TAM we would break attendance recordz!!!!!!!”

And most of us are confused by the leap in logic.
