Silva is probably the best and best known on the list but everyone around here seems to think he’s not a good fit or wouldn’t come anyway. As a Roma fan I’d take Pellegrini over Bamba but I’d take Lewandowski over Pellegrini.

    Hugo! Anti-diva striker...yoeman!

Lewy.....I love Lewy...historical finisher...hope we can land him!
    upload_2026-5-14_21-18-16.png

Silva....is probably what this roster needs:cautious:

We have a current DP that is 'quite good' but...I'd 100% move him to make room for Lewy and Silva:coffee:

Hugo’s work rate behind Lewandowski makes sense to me. These heat maps support that, I think.

And Silva’s heat map looks like Shaqiri!

Neymar is not somebody I would choose but, other than possibly Brandt and Silva, is the only “Big DP” on the list.
Big DP was “promised” and realistically is the correct choice for Fire. But my definition of one is somebody that also brings off-field value. That would exclude players whose name is recognized by only 12 or less Fire fans.

Players need to take a lesson from LIV Golf. All that Saudi money is contingent on the Saudis feeling sportswashing value from th investment. They can promise any salary they want. But one day or the next they are ready and willing to pull the plug on the whole thing and send em packing contract cancelled. There in no honor in a bone Sawman.

Well I do assume...despite all the who knows what is going on reports...that the Fire are actually making a real try for Lewy and honestly...that in itself is progress.

I think we might actually be past that. Trying and failing for De Bruyne was a sea change for this club from former DP’s, trying and failing for Neymar was dodging a bullet, but again showed the club’s aspirations. Trying and failing for Lewandowski (and Silva?)…I dunno. I think we’re beyond the feel good moment of at least trying. The club actually needs to land a big fish so more big fish will call the club like Stoichkov did saying, “Hey, I want to play for you!”

Fighting Lewandowski coming to the team is a bit like fighting Messi coming to the team a couple years ago. Yeah, some arguments could be made. But overall? It wouldn’t make sense.

I think I am misreading this.
"But overall. It wouldn’t make sense."
    Is the "it" signing Lewandowski?

I assume (I hope) you mean the "it" is fighting the signing of Lewandowski does not make sense.

I think that was more wishful thinking by all of us than anything approaching reality.

I thought it was closer than that. Mansueto offered more money than Napoli, but I understand people make different decisions based on more than just money. Serie A is the true retirement league where players go post-MLS like Zlatan and Beckham.:sneaky:

I did not mean that we didn't try.
I meant that it was wishful thinking he would go to the Fire. He indicated pretty early last year that wanted to stay in Europe.

I thought GGG made recent statement that Fire was really close to signing him. I am suspicious that Fire is used to increase salary offers but thought maybe this was very close to happening.
Also- Lewy confirmed he was leaving Barca. Not a surprise asto decision or timing. He was pushing Barca so he could have a farewell appearance before home crowd on Sunday.
