Maybe I'm reading into it, but I thought last year clubs had the option to adjust/change the 3+3 vs 2+4 decision over the mid-season break. This reads to me like you make the decision by Feb 20...which could include starting 2+4 and changing to 3+3, but committing to it now.

Reflecting on it, that would be a silly change...but that's how it reads to me.

The adjustment is allowed again this year.
It is the clause after what I posted last night. Here it is:

Clubs will conditionally have the opportunity to update their roster construction model at midseason – between July 1, 2026, and the close of the Secondary Transfer Window on Sept. 2. Conditions for updating roster construction models at midseason:

    • Updates must be made between July 1, 2026 and the close of the Secondary Transfer Window (Sept. 2).
    • U22 Initiative Player Model to Designated Player Model – The club must have used $1 million or less of the additional GAM and have no more than three U22 Initiative Players on their roster as of their updated declaration.
    • Designated Player Model to U22 Initiative Player Model – The club may only invest up to $1 million of additional GAM during the remainder of the season and must have no more than two Designated Players on their roster as of their updated declaration.

Does not appear to be a stream for today's Coachella game against Austin.
Found tweets about Cuypers out due to concussion protocol, Bamba still being held out from a nic, and Waterman starting over Elliot to pair him with Mbokazi.
Shokalook get's the start at striker.

I would be very happy if somehow Gutman can remain injury free for another year.

  10. Actually two. Anthony Markanich and his twin brother Nick (a striker) were both in the Fire Academy until the season N-Rod killed the team at the top level and tried to sell the academy. They played at NIU for 4 seasons and were both drafted. Nick is with Houston on loan from Castellon in the Spanish Second Div

What roster moves would be needed for the Fire to sign Johan Gomez? Is loaning out Radojevic and Omari enough?

  13. Could a salary like Gomez' be bought down with GAM?

Fixes our INTL tag issue, puts two talented players somewhere they will get meaningful minutes, and…

Well, it leaves a question of who is Gutman’s back up?

  15. See my edit above.

Dean, Glasgow & even TLB are options.

Thks, I’ll have to check out the MIR97 site for details on how Franco and Rad can ‘not be registered’ until July…sounds odd.

With the physicality, pace and shooting ability, I like the idea of TLB taking a shift at LB!

I'm mostly asking regarding roster spots. Can Sam Rogers be moved to the empty supplemental spot left by Sam Williams' loan? Or is there another method?

Backup LB would be Mbokazi, Maren, and Dean

Can't say for sure, but I think Sam's acquisition fees will keep him off the supplemental...unless there is some Garber bucks magic allowed....but I like the idea.

Hmm, curious if yall think Mueller is battling MHS for Bamba's backup minutes?
Sure, Mueller is typically left side, but MHS has played a decent amount of minutes on the right...and we haven't seen Dithejane...and Glasgow gets more minutes at wingback than he does up top.

I am actually more worried they will move MHS' Int slot if they think Mueller is going to be a good backup winger. I get MHS may even want that...but I do like him as a backup on the club.

This. 1000%. It will suck if we have to lose the depth of MHS.

Possibly? Would require favorable MLS approvals regarding roster spots and salary budget treatment of the two loans at a minimum.
Additionally, given the uncertainty about how much GAM the Fire has left, I really do not know.

A thought....presuming Radojevic was to be 'untagged' to be able to sign a 3rd DP....his salary + acquisition fees would hit the budget for ~$800k.
And best I can tell Gomez is making around EU800k...so probably would not need to combine Glasgow into the budget part of conversation...just the INTL tag issue, that appears solverd by deferring the rostering of Franco until July.

If there is a salary budget problem, untagging Radojevic will only make it worse. Also, suspect there are myriad league rules complicating the possibility of leaving Franco off the roster. Would assume they would want him working with team and fully rehabbing as quickly as possible.
