Couple postings mentioned he has matured considerable in recent years. If true, both parties may “forget” the incident.
You can not seriously think that Lewandowski will put forth the effort on defense that Cuypers did last year. Come on! Formations go through cycles. A variation of 4-4-2 is popping up a few places right now. Reading about the best approach to play against a certain formation ( or style of play) is not the same as playing hundreds of matches against it. A team with a coaching staff and players who have never played against it can take time to adjust. Advantage to 4-4-2 team.
If the alternative of Cuypers + Lewandowski is Lewandowski + no other DP then sure. But that's not the case. Fire would use that extra DP spot to strengthen another position. I want a system that GGG has full conviction in and not one he is forced to play because he has 2 strikers to play.
I am not questioning his desire to play pressing defense and be a scoring machine. I am questioning his physical ability to do it every match all season like Cuypers did last year. I am talking about cumulative season-long effort. Check his minutes!
He’s tall and soft spoken like a Phil Jackson but he is not the kind of coach that will work with big personalities. You cross him once, you’re out. Style is that of Bobby Knight without the yelling.
I have watched the first 25 minutes. It is a boring match. A lot of pushing and shoving, lot of the ball in front of the Real goal, no real chances on goal. More blood money for the Saudi's, though.
Three goals in first half injury time. 2-2 Into the 8th minute of the three minutes of injury time. Half time.
Not only is Inter playing a two striker formation, the announcers talking about how they have four starting quality strikers in their squad.
Napoli also playing with two forwards, although one in a more reserved position. So two teams playing with two forwards each and with two separate formations. If Berhalter couldn’t figure out a way to play two DP strikers I’d be worried about his capability as a coach.
Interesting 🇺🇸 Sources: Toronto FC bid $18m to sign USMNT forward Josh Sargent from Norwich City. @FabrizioRomano 1st.Talks ongoing. Toronto confident. Player wants it.w/ @SebSB @PaulTenorio @joshuakloke https://t.co/W5gSZyHeiH— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) January 11, 2026
Not sure what this has to do with the 2026 Chicago Fire Roster. Also, Toronto are foolish to bid that much for Josh Sargent. He has been a pretty decent player in the Championship, but not much more than that.
Tomorrow! Tomorrow… we add another 👀🇿🇦 #cf97 pic.twitter.com/QtIjkLA7Es— Chicago Fire FC (@ChicagoFire) January 13, 2026
Dumbest? We dumped Nowak! We dumped Kubik! We hired a potato in Yallop! We had Hauptman as an owner! We had a coach that said players should "practice happily" after losing. Okay, I guess dumping Cuypers would be UP THERE in the dumb ideas.
