Can’t recall…they may have needed to manipulate the deal to Jan to maximize it

No I don’t need to check my information is correct. Cuypers is still on his 1st contract therefore his outgoing price needed to be more than the incoming price to generate GAM. Go check if you don’t believe me or continue to spread misinformation up to you.

Let get a couple things straight here. Not trying to spread misinformation. Not trying to insult you. Frustrated by MLS continuing to publish “partial” rules that leave a lot of questions unanswered. Frustrated by new interpretations of rules by MLS that seem to contradict what they released to us peons (“special rules”)
However, I cannot find anything to justify your interpretation/ statement. For you to be so cocksure, you must have a source justifying your self-confidence. I would appreciate it greatly if you could provide it.
    Thanking you in advance.

So what part of what was explained earlier do you not get?

    https://themlspulse.com/mls-roster-rules?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Read this and ask your AI assistant that made you so sure you were correct whether it is up on the latest interpretation of the rule.

    https://www.transferfeed.com/s/univ...22-million-offer-for-anzor-mekvabishvili/3595
Universitatea Craiova received a €2.2 million offer from the MLS club Chicago Fire for 25-year-old Georgian midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili, who had previously indicated at the end of last season that he might leave the team during the summer. Mihai Rotaru immediately rejected the possibility of Universitatea Craiova selling the player to Major League Soccer, as the offered amount did not meet the club's demands.

Mekvabishvili, who has 33 caps for Georgia, joined the club in January 2024 and has a contract until 2028. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated to be €2.00m. AEK Athens and Getafe have also been mentioned in connection with the midfielder.

Juventus is not the only club with an interest in Leon Goretzka. The 31-year-old German international is currently a free agent after his contract was not extended by FC Bayern. Goretzka has 73 caps and 15 goals for Germany. He has several options and inquiries that he plans to discuss with his family and advisors after the World Cup. Among the interested parties is MLS club Chicago Fire; BILD previously reported that this club had shown interest. The Italian portal 'Calciomercato' reports that Juventus has recently increased its contact with the midfielder's agency. According to the same report, the player's financial demands are a significant obstacle, as he is reportedly seeking a signing bonus of approximately ten million euros in addition to a net salary of seven million euros per season. The report suggests this package is a considerable hurdle for Juventus. Other clubs recently linked with the central midfielder include Atlético Madrid and AC Milan. A deal with AC Milan that collapsed in June 2026 reportedly included a €10 million signing bonus. According to Transfermarkt, Goretzka's current market value is €12.00m.

There are reports today of ACM resigning Modric, so that appears to leaves Atletico Madrid as the primary 'competition' for Leon.

I don’t use AI, I use my own brain and formulate my own opinions. It’s literally right here just click and read, it literally says until all costs are recouped meaning a higher sale then purchase price. Tim Hotze has also confirmed this on the most recent podcast. I’m done talking about this believe what you want. I’ve provided the exact rule section for you to read.

I am in Hungary at this very moment.
It is very nice, but we cannot even read a menu here (without a humorous English translation).

Had a glass of wine and half litre beer at a local pub for about $4.00 total!

We head back to Poland this afternoon.

It is obvious you missed a lot in the 6+ years (2-20 to 6-26) you did not post here. Lots of things happened , including MLS rule changes. The first year/ contract rules on DPs are one example.Look at the rule you quoted. “Costs are recouped “ does not mean higher sale price than purchase price. The original acquisition costs are amortized over guaranteed years of original contract and serve as the benchmark for “ profit” calculation.
Unjustified arrogance about MLS rules is not an endearing trait.

New source I have not seen or used previously. Not sure who publishes it. As a quick check on accuracy, I looked at a couple figures in the post. It has the incorrect figures for both the salary budget and also the DP budget charge. It lists the 2024 figures rather the updated 2026 numbers. I am guessing this source is old or has not been updated. In either case, I am unwilling to spend any time on it or give any credence to what it says. Drat! Disappointed because always interested in new accurate sources.

Just because I wasn’t posting on big soccer doesn’t mean I wasn’t following, very active on twitter. Again you guys can believe whatever you’d like at this point. You can listen to the most recent MiR podcast and Tim Hotze will confirm what I have already said. They won’t receive GAM for this transfer. Its case closed. I’ve given you both avenues on how you can get to that information as well but you refuse to show anything that refutes my information or Tims.

Literally go to the 6 minute and 30 second clip of their new podcast and Tim will explain the same thing I did. Being purposefully ignorant isn’t an endearing trait either.

We have some people here who do their best to track TAM and GAM since for many months of the year it's an unknown. Don't take it personally. In the long run you'll probably appreciate it when you get a reasonably close approximation of our budget while MLS itself isn't releasing anything...

Yes and no I think. I mean still don't have fully a timetable for him to come back and again we don't know how well he'll be when back. Would love to have him be first option off the bench. If we can have that again our bench depth is great outside of backup striker.

Just for De Bruyne his salary can't be crazy....I'd be fine with $6-7million per for 2 yrs. Then if he kills it, renew for the new stadium and if not we bring in big named players for the new stadium.

You quoted a rule which is not consistent with your statement and Tim Hotze. Not totally conclusive in my mind. I welcome any additional verification you have.
Had listened to the podcast. Tim Hotze considers himself an expert on MLS rules and I value his comments. There have been instances when he was not completely accurate. Those times were likely due to unpublished or “ special” rules. Would feel better if additional sources could verify this.

I think Tim is doing great work! And he’s probably right on this one, but he hasn’t been 100% gospel…which is near impossible anyway.

The MLS rules are notoriously broad, so I’m skeptical that it’s a simple as ‘the transfer fee is less, so no GAM’. As was posted ‘only after all prior out-of- pocket amounts are recouped’.

Not sure what all can be considered ’recouped’…if paid salary counts then that closes the gap in the delta between transfer fees (12-7 + (1.5*3.5)). We don’t really know if how the transfer fee was paid matters Possibly things like ‘Cash from another player sale’ vs ‘club cash’ can be counted toward the recoup…it’s not published what counts.

In the end, if a balance is captured I don’t think it’s going to be a meaningful amount, which I originally had wrongly predicted.:ROFLMAO:
