He had a promising start to his career but no one has even bothered to update his Wikipedia page...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chase_Gasper

What's the average salary these days? Not including DP salaries. It should be said that Left Back is the most difficult position in the sport to fill so average salary and average LB salary might be interesting to compare.

  3. Maybe more so than any other day.

  4. Everyone, you need to sit down. According to the MLS-PA Gasper "earns"

Again, he "only" takes up a Supplemental Roster spot (<$90k) and does not count against the cap.

I hope he is not injured for most of next year too.

He makes less than Andrew Gutman. I'm not sure what that means. We did sign two left backs, one of our most needed spots and both got injured. Regardless, looking at the numbers some teams dump a lot of money into the position while others have one or two players at basically the league minimum (under $100K).

If you look at ALL LBs, the average is $315K. But if you chop out the league minimum salaries (these are typically garbage and non-starting players), and chop out DP Jordi Alba who skews the numbers as well, the average LB salary appears to be about $400k.

Miguel Navarro at $300K is both a below average salary and below average player.

i don't think anyone is re-litigating the original signing of Gasper, which continues to appear to be a savvy salary cap and roster management move

the persisting question is why was he not moved post-injury to a season ending injury list when he has been out for months and, best I can tell, is getting close to training again, at best, with a handful of games left

either they severely misjudged the injury, they made a mistake in managing the roster once the season started, or there is some MLS roster rule preventing a promotion to the supplemental roster of a Fire II player

  8. Maybe the guy is better than he showed his first few games with us. He could have been hurt then.

Just to clarify- I hope the Fire can find a solid starter and capable backup LB/LWB who are available to play ( not injured).
I am not focusing on salaries.
I have not seen Lassiter at all and little of Gutman or Gaspar due to injury so I really do not have an opinion of their play at this time.

Gio Reyna needs to move to a club where he will play regularly and where he is appreciated by the fans. He is said to be available. Anybody else think he would be a good fit on the Fire squad? ( sans parents, obviously).

New head coach has not been announced. The question was will he fit with the current squad.

Does Gio even want to be in MLS, let alone the Fire.

I doubt Gio has any interest in playing in MLS. Heck, I bet that he would barely deign to play in La Liga if it came calling.

Lassiter out this match due to card accumulation. Increases need for Gutman to play well for at least majority of match.

    Well, THAT was fast! ;)
He is more yellow card prone than F Navarro.

At least Navarro played 1 minute before picking up a yellow card in his last game.

    Lassiter sucks! Bench him! :mad::mad::mad:

It seems to me that he currently needs a lot of love, much praise and, more than anything else, minutes on the field. I think the MLS would provide all these, if he is willing to swallow his pride just a little. He is young and, when his non-physical abilities catch up with his obvious physical talents, he can go back to the top level.

How about a juice box and some orange slices, as well?

Maybe he can hook up with Paunovic who will teach him "practice cheerfully."

Why should he be praised, less "much praised"?
For what? What has he done that would earn "much praise"?
He is a multi millionaire at age 21 playing a friggin' game.

Did not intend to praise him, only to mention where I thought he was. Hence, my comment about his non-physical shortcomings.
He may not want to admit it (and his parents certainly would not admit it) but MLS might be a good place for him at this time. It should be obvious that a major change is needed.

He is apparently making $2.5 million a season. Considering he has a transfermarkt value of $18 million, I thought it be higher.

I would guess at least one MLS team would be interested at those numbers.
