Yes, 7 PK goals. There's still a lot of other goals. Would you rather he NOT want to take the penalty kicks?
Well, we ALL know that they "just don't count as much," so that must be taken into consideration what determining how many goals he really scored.
This silly trope attempts to obfuscate the point you don’t want to accept… When comparing the value of attacking players, ‘field of play goals’ is a superior measure to ‘total goals’…it’s why the G-npG stat exists.
The silly trope is just silly, which is precisely the point. Glad you admit it. When comparing whether a team wins or not, the number of goals scored is a superior measure to any nonsensical made-up statistic. When comparing the value of attacking players, the number of goals scored is a superior measure to 'field of play goals' since they all count precisely the same for the purpose of, well, winning games. When comparing the value of attacking players, the number of goals scored is a superior measure to 'field of play goals' for the purpose of winning the Golden Boot (or other awards). Christian Benteke won the 2024 Golden Boot because he scored 23 goals, not 20 "real goals" and 3 "penalties"? Of course, Bouanga scored 7 penalties out of 19 goals, so he should not have even been considered among the top goal scorers. This is such a pointless discussion that I never want it to end! It is a silly respite from any "real" topics. I really thought people would have figured that out by now.
Nah, I won't bother watching the video. They point is that they do (and should, of course). Why would I give a crap about what some Alec Baldwin looking guy has to say about anything? Thanks, but no thanks.
I listened to a minute of it and yes, it's worthless sports talk drivel. "But some people get paid extra for scoring more goals so they take penalties [aka they shouldn't count]." What kind of stupidity is that?
Tom Bogert is suggesting Philadelphia's CB Jack Elliot to the Fire. 1867236267248828484 is not a valid tweet id If the post does not load: MLS free agency opens at 1pm ET today. Biggest names on the board are Albert Rusnak (expected to return to Seattle), Jack Elliott and Jeremy Ebobisse. On @CBSSportsGolazo, I said to keep an eye on… Elliott and Chicago Fire Fafa Picault and Austin Lalas Abubakar and Dallas My take: A steady defender and constant starter in Philadelphia and probably better than what we have. He did make almost $800,000.00 (base) $893,750.00 (guaranteed) last season, though. Not Czichos money, but a fair chunk of change.
As a backup forward I would also grab Burke if able to be had for cheap salary. He always seems dangerous when against the Fire.
Never said Ally McCoist was not reputable, just don't care about his position. You really cannot let anything go, can you?
“Can’t let anything go”…you posted a couple response up that you “never want it to ever end!” It’s like you are surprised there is a reply to your responses… Maybe you don’t realize that your responses are not the final word? Ok, who are we signing? Are they any good at PKs?!
Never said Ally McCoist was not reputable, just don't care about anyone connected to that other Glaswegian club. But that's just my personal bias.
You guys and your PKs. Pretty funny. Let me see if I have this correct. One side says a PK still counts as one goal and the other side says the skill required to make one is less than a field shot. Both sides could be right! How about a new idea regarding PKs. Because (roughly) 75% of all PKs taken are scored, the majority of the value arises from the act of getting a PK called. Why not credit this player with 3/4 of a goal and the successful PK taker with 1/4 goal? An idea like that should win some sort of award. ( he ducks)
PKs are scored at a high rate because the best PK takers get to shoot. There is a drop off in conversion rate for each player in a shootout, essentially proving that the expected average conversion rate would be way lower than the actual conversion rate because the team picks who gets to take the shot.
You forgot to mention that the goalies get better at higher level play. The conversion rate is still what it is. The much lower success rate on field shots kinda proves that PK goals require less skill . (I am still not serious - but where is my award.)
Right, the best make 96+%…most are better than 50/50…and it averages out to mid to high 70s. the ball is stationary, there is 1 non charging defender, and it’s at close range. field of play is infinity, there is traffic, and shot range is more often from further distance. Wonder what the field of play shot conversion rates are? Torn between ‘Your teeth are off side” and “Your just a fat granny shagger” as the better heckle https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCzN2khKiB9/?igsh=eDlrb2pkcXlnYTRo
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/lafc-re-sign-defender-aaron-long I guess "John" on xcrement is not exactly a 100% reliable source of information about the Chicago Fire rumors. SHOCKING!
I really hope we sign some excellent players. We deserve it. Plus, having a good team would be a pleasant "distraction" from the various conversations on this here BS Chicago Fire forum.
