Glasgow contract (apparently) expiring. Recent comments indicate he is unlikely to sign with Fire. I am wondering if the ghost of Heitz is still haunting the organization. Hope the rumors are wrong and they sign him. The Fire needs to be able to retain young players like him.
Agree. Not sure how a guy like that can do so well at the international level (even if it is CONCACAF against a bunch of lower ranked teams) and not get time with an MLS club team that has no real threats on the wings and the best player MHS scored 6 goals the previous year (two in one game). Seems like his speed would be an effective weapon.
Maybe Glasgow does not want to sign with the Fire and wants to test the waters in Europe or somewhere. Maybe the Fire just do not rank him high enough as a full time MLS player. Oh, who am I kidding, they have 'mighty' Tom Barlow, so the Fire are not that picky.
It would be unfortunate, but pretty likely. Sadly, he will go to England and end up in League 2 with Grimsby Town or something.
Sure - but why does he want out? Continuation of a disturbing trend Couple weeks ago I listed my top 3 candidates for disposal as Gimenez, Mueller and Souquet. So who are we hearing about? Teran, Koutsias and Gutierrez Not a good sign IMO. I continue to advocate for the same three disposals. It makes sense financially and on the field. The Salary Budget Charge reduction would be greater than the total of all year-end actions taken so far ( disregarding the temporary Gimenez DP tag.)
I have not heard anything concrete but…. Couple rumors Koutsias going to Lugano via contract termination and (another) rumor Gutierrez going to Liga MX and MX Nats.
TBH, the only "news" on Guti was his social media post of a church in Jalisco (where he has family) paired with a generic Chivas post. No news from any media insider, nothing else. COULD it happen? Sure, but other than the value of getting another Gringomex at Chivas, they can spend their money better. Guti has some work to do to earn his $900k salary, let alone the transfer fee the Fire would want. 2023-24 in all competitions 72 games, 10 goals, 19 assists, 5440 minutes
MLS Expansion Draft day is Dec.11, List of available players to be released Dec. 10. Not sure of exact date but Fire will need to submit their list of 12 protected players shortly. The Fire currently have 12 Senior Roster players, 6 Supplemental players and 2 players in negotiations or a total of 20. Curious as to which 5 players you would first leave unprotected. My choices would be Gimenez, Souquet, Mueller, Oregel and Dowd. Almost the subject for a contest.
Any rumors? Be cool to get his guy, but our supporters will have some work to do https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDTdqyWywm6
Hope the rumor is true. Fire may be trying to lock him up and protect before the draft. Hope to see some more activity.
Looking like it may have happened already. Which raises the question- Was John (whoever he is) played by an agent in order to help Long close the deal or did he just throw out an idea without any solid backing? Not the first time he has posted erroneous info.and acted like like it was a fact.
Fire just released protected players list and Homegrown (protected) players list and unprotected players lists. Thinking Gal, Dowd or Omsberg are most likely to be chosen from unprotected list. Management apparently thinks Mueller has enough value to protect him. Not sure if that would be trade value or value on the field for Fire in 2025.
Protected Players (12): midfielder Kellyn Acosta, forward Tom Barlow, forward Hugo Cuypers, defender Jonathan Dean, defender Andrew Gutman, midfielder Maren Haile-Selassie, forward Georgios Koutsias, midfielder Chris Mueller, midfielder Federico Navarro, midfielder Mauricio Pineda, defender Tobias Salquist, defender Carlos Terán Homegrown Exempt Players (7): forward Victor Bezerra, goalkeeper Chris Brady, midfielder Javier Casas Jr., midfielder Brian Gutiérrez, midfielder Sergio Oregel Jr., defender Justin Reynolds, forward Missael Rodríguez The following players are available for selection: Unprotected Players (12): defender Allan Arigoni, defender Rafael Czichos, goalkeeper Bryan Dowd, goalkeeper Jeff Gal, defender Chase Gasper, midfielder Gastón Giménez, midfielder Fabian Herbers, midfielder Ariel Lassiter, defender Wyatt Omsberg, goalkeeper Spencer Richey, defender Arnaud Souquet, midfielder Laurence Wootton Red are the ones we talked about before Blue are the ones that I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a landing spot elsewhere.
That's a good point...wonder if Mueller has 'cleared' some kind of assessment relative to 3G's intended style of play.
