So this is why there was no reunion for GGG and Gio 🚨 Borussia Dortmund and Gladbach have agreed on a transfer for Giovanni Reyna . The breakthrough in the negotiations was achieved today, Friday. The transfer fee - including probable potential bonuses - is up to 7.5 million euros.🗞 @BILD #BVB— BVB Newsblog (@bvbnewsblog) August 22, 2025
Couple tidbits- 1) Just saw article saying rumored pending Gio Reyna transfer is for only $2 million Euro. Pretty hard to believe, thinking this is not correct but…. 2) US U20s will be playing 3 matches the next international break. Oregel likely to be called up. Believe these are “official” so teams have to honor requests. If this occurs, he will miss all three matches in (now) congested 8 day Sept 27 to Oct 4 period (against Columbus, InterMiami and Toronto). Not too good!
With Kouame persistently dinged up, and Acosta out of favor, that means Franco will be ‘thrown in the pool’ and we get a clear view of his quality, or not
According to Young Alex (maybe Tim) Oregel may not be called up and he is not a lock for the US U-20s. There are guys in Euro leagues that may knock him out of a spot.
Researched that Reyna report and it looks to be pure BS. I never thought it was true but was so wild that I felt I had to at least mention it.
Honestly I would not want Reyna. He is maybe the one person more injury prone then Teran! I would much prefer Weston if we were trying to grab a USA quality player.
Agree! Not even close!! Just so wild an idea that he could transfer for only $2+ million, I had to show it. It would take a figure like that for me to consider him.
We're not done with 2025 moves yet. Dean Boltz is loaned to Forward Madison. He can keep working on that UW degree. This frees a supplemental roster spot. https://www.chicagofirefc.com/news/chicago-fire-fc-loans-forward-dean-boltz-to-forward-madison-fc
I'll say I think we have a decent team even if we didn't exactly shake up the soccer world this window. We need some additions for sure but we're not worthless.
Interesting Waterman quote from the the MIR97 articles...GGG is loving it. “I love being on the ball. I think that’s my main main strength. I love passes between the lines to our forwards. I love creating something from a deep-lying positon, setting the tempo for the game. I love just passing the ball.”

Definitely good news! Guessing Brady $273k) and Oregel ($113k) received meaningful salary bumps, maybe even a small one for Pineda ($386k).
