Step 3- Year-end Roster Decisions- lots to do, lots of room for improvement The Fire will need to make 20 year-end roster decisions in the next 15 months. 2024- Czichos, Gutman, Arigoni, Herbers, MHS, Lassiter, Omsberg, Richey , Dean, Casas, Gal, Wootton 2025- Gimenez, Mueller, Souquet, Gaspar, Navarro, Salquist, Barlow, Oregel Players are listed in descending reported salary (not budget charge) order. My suggestion is to make most of these decisions early in process. Need to generate roster spots for new “Specials” ( DP & U22 ) and ,hopefully, for promotions from Fire II.
Tough spot…majority of the ones I’d be interested in keeping (for the right price) are 2024s….gotta move some 25s now One not on the list that we haven’t seen much of lately, but showed a nose for goals is VictorB…him and CFII’s golden boot should be challenging for Kotsias and Barlow’s spots https://www.instagram.com/reel/DA9I3yIPEeZ/
There should be some new Homegrowns too, most likely Borso & Cupps with Turdean as a long shot. Roster spots are full.
I knew his loan to Detroit would expire in Nov, but was not sure if he had ‘run out his course’ here.
remind me what the criteria is for eligibility on the supplemental roster? seems like a big win if you can any sort of talent that can occupy a supplemental roster spot
Thank you. Bezerra should have been included as a 2024 (option year) He was not on the Capology bookmark that I used. I should have double-checked it. MLSPA lists his base salary as $104k. Add one more player to the list.
Hmmm, don't we know a guy who's pretty adept at starting solid USL clubs? Yeah, I know, I know, but I can dream about having him connected to the Fire again.
USL1 & MLSNP should be one third division like they do it in Germany & Switzerland. Divy it up into 4 quadrants with limited cross league play like the Jägermeister Cup.
yeah, I’m a post-Wilt era Fire fan so have no idea what this could be about so I’d love to learn more
Wilt understands Chicago, Chicago sports, and soccer clubs vs. soccer teams. His understanding of success spreads outside of what happens on the field to the well being of the entirety of the community, something we don’t do now. It’s a much different vibe and truly missed here and in MLS as a whole.
I believe Joe wants to do something similar, but works on a different plane. He's nowhere near as hands on as Wilt. Also, capitalist vs. socialist. Ironically, both Mansueto & Wilt are sons of physicians.
I have seen zero evidence of this but that doesn’t mean he isn’t trying. Dave Baldwin is a huge obstacle to getting there, though.
