Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner:Nowhere else in the world "the aggressor gets away with nothing," Tanner said referring to Bobby Wood. "I’m german, I know who said what to whom. Interesting read, but I am not sure what this has to do with the Fire 2024 Roster, unless we are signing Wagner (which I doubt we are).
Curious how you view this as a mistake? He’s likely to chew right through the MLS! Kidding aside, I’d put the over/under at 10g next season…if he stays healthy. We could certainly use a TAM striker with a 10g over/under!
seeing the Athletic backtrack on whether or not Suarez is a DP deal or not, claiming it is too early to confirm one way or the other
The official line was just posted- the O/U for acquisitions by Fire by opening day is three. Expected signings include a 17 year-old from Guyana, a Siberian League all-star and a 34 year-old DM.
It's based on what Suarez has said in interviews recently. Suarez is not healthy, he's on his last legs physically. He takes pills and injections to play. It feels like he's coming for an early retirement to me, and I think Miami needs some young legs instead of a guy on his last legs.
It's true he is "on his last legs", but in 2023 he played 2877min in 33games and had 17G + 11A! That's 500+min more than any of our attackers played and 19 G+A more...we don't even have an attacker with 10 G+A Based on our track record, I would not bet on the Fire's mystical DP9 signing to out produce him in 2024.
I heard he can barely walk. Needs shots the day before a game and has to limber up for the 24 hours prior to a game and then can't get out of bed the day after. Maybe some of that was exaggerated but it is what I heard.
Sounds like BS…he played 2877 min last season. Doesn’t mean he isn’t at the end, getting some steroid shots and such, but if it were true he wouldn’t pass the team’s physical eval.
Did anyone ever read that article about Mr. Earbiter Luis Suarez back when he was in his peak, probably at Liverpool and shortly after his transfer out of there? It was a very good insight into his mentality as the guy came from dirt. He was trying to play his way out of abject poverty in Uruguay. A cursory look through the Google machine and I could not find the article. It was quite in depth. Point being, a guy like that is very driven and I have no doubt he will play at the highest level as long as his body holds out...which sounds like it won't be for much longer?
He wouldn't pass it if team doctors were straight with him. Years ago a Bundesliga team bought a Spanish La Liga player. His physical in Germany revealed holes like Swiss cheese in his knee structures from too many steroid shots. Some guys don't care. Maybe Suarez is one of them.
