The last I remember is that the 31 roster spots are full so someone needs to leave in order to bring someone in. Unfortunately, no one wants any of the players on the Fire right now. It is possible that teams are inquiring about Guti, Brady, Teran, and possibly Shaqiri. I'm sure Heitz does not want to part with the first 3. Every other player on the Fire with an expiring contract is probably too expensive. The only way someone moves is through a mutual termination of the existing contract and the player negotiating a new contract with another club. I do not think that anyone on the Fire with an expiring contract would like to take that risk right now.
Except for Wootton all loaned players still take up their respective roster spots. To bring a player on, someone has to leave. There are no offers for Shaqiri.

I am not too knowledgeable on this, but I thought that “slot 31” player was not allowed to play for Fire I and is just a player waiting for a slot to open up next year. If this is correct, then not a solution to allow Glasgow to play.

That’s a somewhat puzzling move… In that we just freed up 1 roster spot, a ton of salary and a DP tag…and we bring in someone to battle MHS and Mueller for PT? Maybe MHS is now considered only as a second striker and Lassiter can also play LB?
He was only signed til the end of the season. I have already written this season off (though will watch every game) and frankly want us to figure out what to do for next season...until we have the GM and potential coach change...I am not sure I want many moves done.
This is what I want to know. When I heard Shaq was gone my immediate response was bring Glasgow up to the first team and give him 8 or 9 run outs. Instead they get a journeyman to play wing? This doesn't seem like a "building for the future" move to me so in that sense I don't understand it. I agree the Fire need a winger but unless there's something preventing Glasgow from coming up I don't really get it?

I think they’re fully committed to the playoffs and I commend them for that. They gave up creativity for speed. Frank rotated through a bunch of formations and players in new positions and I can only assume he has picked the favored path forward and wing speed gives us a better chance than methodical passing. I’m not a big fan of the “play the kids” mantra. The coaches see these kids every day. They know what they have and the kids would be on the first team if they were ready. That’s always my thought, anyway.
Well that would make sense if Glasgow was slow. He's pretty dang fast is all I'm saying. The recent highlights of the Fire II match he got WAY behind the back line. Will that work at the next level? Maybe not but I'd like to see him try.
For better or worse, Lassiter is a known commodity. Glasgow is potential. I can’t argue with a coach trying to salvage a season.
I share some of your concerns/thoughts. My best guess is that they are still nursing some faint hope of the playoffs. He was announced as a backup LWB. He is only signed for 9 or 10 matches. It is possible they believe this need would be better accomplished by Lassiter than Glasgow. They probably have reached a conclusion regarding Glasgow by now. Of course, the Lassiter move may mean negotiations with Glasgow are stalled. Keeping my fingers crossed!
True. Do you think Frank made this decision? Only thing, Glasgow may already be better than Lassiter. Plus, most common way for young players to get better is for them to be challenged and to play at the next level up.
I absolutely think Frank had a say. But he also was not allowed to ask for a 'more significant signing'...they need the flexibility to attract the next manager. Otherwise we would have signed a Memphis, or a Willian, or, etc for a 24/25+1option. And FWIW, I 'like' Glasgow, but he's not much more exciting than Espinoza was...fast, got some good instincts, but not mature or even reliable. He's in development and Lassiter seems more like Raheem Edwards. Stats-wize, he should bring some excitement to the attack...looks much better on paper than Raheem or Omari
