It would be extremely disappointing if we did not land a DP level winger in this window, now that we have 2 starting level forwards in Cuypers and Koutsias.

I hate to say it but I actually if both are at TAM levels I would choose to keep Gimenez over Acosta. Shudders

Definitely a quality LCB. The Fire could certainly use him.
    Only two “small” potential problems.
1)He was paid $9+ million per year for last 5 years. He just turned 29 and is probably not looking for a reduced salary as a free agent.
2)He is likely looking for a club more prestigious than the Fire.
Otherwise- go get him, Joe! (Heitz could never properly handle a signing of this magnitude.)

    MORE prestigious than the Fire?

    We have Shaqiri!
    If that doesn't demonstrate prestige...

Also, since he is available for free, why not pay him what he wants?

Neither you or I get to make that decision, unfortunately.
I did not say I was against paying a player what they are worth. ( “worth” not “wants”)
I did say an expensive player needed to be a fit and that nearly all the money needed to go to the player, not agents or so-called consultants.

There are agents, consultants, lawyers, and others involved. They do work, they should get paid.

What would not be involved was paying a massive amount of money to the previous team.

I have no complaints regarding reasonable pay for legitimate services rendered.

I've been patiently waiting for some inkling of a hint of a whisper of a rumor and I'm taking the glass half full route. IF there are no signings or movement out of players this window, it *COULD* mean Klopas, Heitz and Pelzer will not be in their current positions after the end of this season. Perhaps the goal is to let some contracts expire, get some new guys in the front office and let them have several DP slots with which they can immediately make an impact on this squad. Despite the decent offseason signings being Heitz's best transfer window yet this team is going to be lucky to end up with the 40 points they had last season when they missed the playoffs. Can the Fire even get 15 points in 9 remaining games out of 27 possible?

because there are two teams in LA and they get all the non-Messi friends big name retirement players, it feels like there is one super team out there of all these Euro expats

"contract termination" would be a silly move unless there was some mutual agreement to not owe him any money (not sure if that's even allowed based on the buyout rules)

we only have a few more games til he is out of contract and we aren't doing shit this season

  20. Since there are no offers for him, Shaqiri should use these remaining games to patch up his resume for his next contract, if there is one. As long as he's here (and he should be here) he should be expected to train cheerfully and accept whatever role the training staff gives him. From the top down (Joe) the message should be this season is finished and put the remaining effort this season to find out who can help this team succeed in 2025 and beyond. Will any of this happen?

i know glasgow has used up his short-term transfers, but what's stopping him from being added to the open supplemental roster spot for the rest of the season?

if ever a moment to play the kids, is it not now?

Is there an open roster spot? I thought it was full.

i think the senior roster is full, but thought we had an open supplemental roster spot

and i don't know the rules well, but assumed Glasgow would qualify for such a spot

the issue earlier in the year was lack of international slots, but we've had a couple green cards since then

If we had a DP spot open, there's the perfect player for us: talented, has played with some of the best teams in the world, doesn't run much, midfielder or second striker, name recognition, insanely expensive, plays best and saves it for his national team, is trying to stay sharp for the 2026 World Cup, and is currently a free agent. James Rodríguez.
