If picking one of the two, I’d keep Gaston over Kellyn…without hesitation.

He’s been sub because of a)injury and b)hype/commitment to build around Kellyn…

Unneeded duplicate? If you sell Gaston, who you playing when Kellyn yellow card accumulates out, or is injured? Fabi? Fede? Javier?

the shot expectations are from the AMs….3 of them in the 4-2-3-1, 2 of the, in the 3-5M-2

He has not been injured for the entire 3-4 year period. A backup CDM at Max-TAM prices is not something this team ( perhaps any team) really needs, given all the other areas where improvement is critical.

Kellyn has not displayed anything better than Gaston….
    Prove me wrong

Gaston has been given a long time to show what he can do. Results have been mediocre. Acosta is a relative newby.
Gaston is more costly ($1,667,000) than Acosta ($1,333,000).
Gaston is older ( 33.0 yrs) than Acosta ( 28.0 yrs).
Gaston has 1.5 yrs left on his Fire contract. Acosta has 2.5 yrs.
No proof but feel Acosta will have greater fan appeal than Gimenez.

Gaston is only a DP because of roster rule jenga…like Doumbia was.

    Roster value problems ranked:
    Shaqiri
    Souquet
    Acosta
    Mueller
    Navarro
    Gimenez

My post was up for less than 5 minutes and deleted on purpose, but you are obsessed.

Max-TAM pay for almost-TAM performance is what I object to.

    What’s troubling about my response?
And why you going personal, versus responding to content?

Until we add that quality DP CM, I’m just trying to figure out how to find value in the players we have. I’m fine with one of them sitting on the bench but I also believe we could try and play a system that works for both. It might not, but benching one is a waste.

well the interest seems real even if there are no solid offers confirmed

nobody is even showing interest in Acosta

  15. It's the eternal quest for the coach to cook the best meal from the ingredients the general manager picks up in the market.

There are times when they're healthy that high value players like Acosta, Gaston, Navarro, & Teran are on the bench. There are other times when guys like Arigoni, Herbers, Mueller & Souquet are played out of position, or asked to play in a manner outside their skill sets. And there's too much reliance on replacement level players at their peak like Barlow, Dean, & Omsberg. Those places on the roster should be filled by equivalent level players with upside (Homegrowns). They're lucky they hit on MHS, but he's a squad player on a good team. This season is the first in his career that he's been a regular starter.

Ok. Given the current roster. What I object to is the idea of keeping Gimenez.
I am completely done with Shaqiri and Gimenez ( in case you did not already know).

  17. Professor Marty's view:

Everyone is interested in taking on Gaston until a price is put on him. That's evidence of his real value.

Probably correct. Minimal value there, if any.
Guess we been seeing Latin American variety of disinformation.
Club bullshit, first cousin of agent baloney.

and yet, still more chatter than anyone interested in Acosta

much due to the MLS rules related to intra-league transfers and loans

would be fun if that were allowed

I agree with all this, except Souquet and Omsberg…for me I’d swap those two in your groupings.
    Arigoni, Herbers, Mueller, Omsberg
    Barlow, Dean, Souquet

Yes and no…like Marty mentions, those teams puff up their feathers regularly and then don’t spend the money

My understanding is that the plan has been to move Shaqiri and at the very least remove Gimemez's DP status to open up two DP slots.

That plus a Souquet move would show Heitz is properly engaged.

remind me how it goes re transfer vs buyout etc

why was kacper a buyout but jairo wasn't? had to do with agreement on wages, yeah?

trying to figure how it applies to shaq and gimenez going elsewhere vis a vis their current salary

transfer fee has no bearing on this, right? free transfer, but continued payment of current salary would be totally fine and not count toward a buyout, yeah?
