why did whatever green card step they had to do keep them from traveling and playing though?

  2. Wootton has had an occasional start, but mostly comes in off the bench. Indy XI is having a good season, but he likely wouldn't be a squad player for us. He turns 25 next January. I hope we can make better use of that international spot.

  3. Rafa couldn't get back in time for the game. I think Alex mentioned Fede was carrying an injury too.

couldn't get back because they had to leave the country or something for the green card process?

Not very knowledgeable on topic but thinking final interview is conducted
in home country. Xtomx probably knows.

“The Fire will open two domestic roster slots.”

    Shouldn’t that be international?

Agree! He provides lots of info. Love his chart!
He indicated green cards for Swiss citizens were difficult so a green card would be unlikely for three Fire Swiss players. Not an expert, but did some research on topic. Switzerland, like many European countries, requires green card/visa interview must be conducted in their country. Other than interview location, did not see any abnormal requirements for US green card. Switzerland does allow dual citizenship.

However, Swiss citizenship is more difficult to obtain.

These green cards are another example of how Joe is not running things the same way Andrew did.

It is such a small investment for a major advantage and incredible flexibility for the team and the individual players.

A thousand times more valuable for the player (and their family) than a work permit.

This is the kind of that team action that makes some players want to come play for you, to stay with a team and to play harder while they are here. It benefits both the team and the player. Only a little thing but little things add up.

I was just thinking about that, as well.
I don't know how much that ties in, but it certainly could. I would say 10-15 years ago, it definitely would.

    New Week = NewTopic
Irrespective of the timing of Shaqiri Departure and Heitz/Pelzer Player Acquisition Castration, it is now the time to compile a list and start conversations with possible DP Winger candidates. Anybody have any names in the $6-16 million acquisition range?

Is winger the role we want? It certainly was when we were committed to the 4-2-3-1...now with the 3-5M-2 I'm not sure.

Looking at what we rolled out against Toronto...I'd be looking for upgrades for Herbers and Dean, maybe MHS (can't have too many scoring threats)
    Herbers upgrade: ???
Dean upgrade: maybe a guy like Ben Johnson or Luke Thomas?
MHS upgrade: Griezmann or Memphis Depay...and move MHS to RAM?

To be clear, I was teasing. But what was discussed by Georg at the super-secret-supporter meeting so many months ago was that we need SPEED. So I'd look for really fast, second tier players to see if there are some Accam-like burners out there that could be added to the team.

Good Question regarding #1 positional priority.
Personally I would like to move both Shaqiri and Gimenez and acquire both a DP winger and also a DP hybrid #8-#10 CM.
But… recognizing differences of opinion on Gimenez and the likelihood that ono DP is probably the most we can expect…the request presumes one DP.
Which position is a valid question, especially if expecting a coaching change!

i don't think we need to overthink it

    we just need talent

other than 9 or GK, we should consider the best players we can get any position
