Honestly I think Nike made a treasure map or something. Cause it looks like somebody took a pic of an area of google map and paste it on the jersey.

Could it be a stylized reference to the island of Honshu, where the Olympics will be held? If so, it's quite cool!

Probably just an optical illusion or the distortion of the mock-up, but the stars above the crest for some reason look notably bigger on the navy kit than on the white one.

Not a fan of Nike plastering the full brand name all over the kit. I had thought that the checkmark trademark made doing so superfluous decades ago. It looks dorky and kinda 90s, never mind Nike's tendency to make kits that celebrate its own brand more than the nation whose kit it is.

I finally dropped a good year's worth of Discover card cash back savings (and then some) on a bona fide white Heath 2019 4-star jersey direct from U.S. Soccer Store two weeks ago, and [banishing from my mind the possibility of a price drop on the old jerseys] I don't regret not waiting for the new kits.

As someone said on twitter, I think the blue blob is really Nike's Rorschach test of USSF fans. So it can be whatever you want it to be. Your home state, camo design, the island of Honshu, whatever.

Better pic with the whole kit:

I like the navy with white combo better than an all-white kit (I'm going to guess though that white shorts are still going to be an option for the white jersey at least in some games). And I like the socks.

    If
If they go with blue jersey with white shorts. I can see it being similar to what the French wore.

Anytime a new kit comes out, we can harp about the details, but I'm just relieved the colors are not gold (like 2008) or white, black and lime green (like 2015). Oh I'm sorry, not lime green-- "volt." o_O

I can't afford new kits every year so I wait until the Women's World Cup and the final rosters to order my favorite player kit. The last two WWC's which of course I'm not complaining, have rendered my newish kits outdated once they added a star after the tournament. I'm still pretty content on keeping my Lloyd 10 three star red away for another couple of years though, even if she is retiring after the Olympics.

I still rock my Rapinoe 2 star 2015 WWC white kit and still get compliments.

My favorite kit will always be my Wambach Waldo from 2012 though, that was the only exception because I thought that kit totally rocked.

My oldest kit is a Wambach 2011 "famous black" from that WWC. I don't regret having that one but occasionally I'll throw it on and look in the mirror and go, wow this thing is the most awkward uncomfortable hilarious jersey ever. lol

I guess I'm the only one that actually liked those kits. hahah I was too broke for an old 2008 kit since I was fairly young. I remember the older kits looked fairly baggy in general on both the men and especially the women.

I'm really not liking the blue kit.

It looks like a lake on my Garmin GPS in night-mode.

Kelley O'Hara has written a letter to her younger self on the Player's Tribune. I enjoyed the read, but I always love these letters on the website, but its also worth reading as it contains a little more on her side of the story in getting cut from the U20 team in 2008 as well as more on the chronic pain that led her to ankle surgery in 2013.

Looks like the second friendly in April will be in Utah. Actual date and opponent TBA (FIFA window runs April 6-14, so maybe around April 10?):

Look at me guessing the exact date!

US will return the favor in November 2021 for a two-match series (wow...that's really announcing things in advance):

EDIT: Also if you click through to the US Soccer website, you'll see the times and channels for the games, but if not:

April 10 vs Australia, 7:30 pm MT on ESPN2
April 14 vs Brazil, 7 pm PT on FS1

Thought about the Australia games in Australia: It could just be a return of a favor, but the US hasn't been in Australia for friendlies since 2000 (the year the Olympics were held there), so it could also be an indication that USSF believes the 2023 WWC is going to Australia and the 2021 games would be prep. (I mean, Australia is the frontrunner, so its a good bet.)

Huh! Could it also be the US showing a vote of confidence and support for Australia for 2023?

Ya see what happens when you DON"T involve CONCACAF in your T.V. Rights Deal.

Gotta give it up to USSoccer when they do things right. March 11th Match relegated to ESPNews because of College Basketball Conference Tournaments.

Kudos to U.S. Soccer for scheduling high quality opponents leading up to Olympics. England, Spain, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Germany— none of these are pushovers. Each present a different challenge and style of play. Especially in a tomato can region like CONCACAF, where qualifying is a breeze, you need to be tested to be in top form.

Seems to me that many countries teams come over here instead of going to other countries.

That might be an indication of other country's lack of resources/attention their federations dedicate to the Women's side coupled with USSoccer taking the bull by the horns. Also, I'll take my chances that US attendance > Foreign attendance. Recently - Canada, France - (Good) Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway - (Meh).

Or more likely it is because foreign counties do NOT have the:
    • Infrastructure
    • Mental fortitude
    • Psychological strength
to handle the Complete and Total Awesomeness.

I see a news article about a trans-gender player who wants to play professional soccer on a women's team in Argentina and has applied to do so. There's a picture of her and she looks to be about 6 feet tall, slender. She is said to be a forward and very speedy.

So, what do woso fans think of that? The beginning of a trend?
