I moved back home to Galway in Ireland (brought bassovita with me) and was sitting in Galway this morning watching Sky news. I nearly wasted my muesli when I saw a full 5 minute report from Carolina about Freddy. They even showed his goal against Charleston. The down side is that they said confidently that he would only be at DC for 1-2 years, because a big team will come in for him as soon as can be arranged. I hope he plays well this year cos thay might not get much more time from him.

The season hasn't even started and we seriously miss the Barra..........

MUST SAVE PENNIES FOR DC VISIT!!!!

I saw this report. He seems like cool guy, joking about and messing about in training. He did say that the English Permiership is the most exciting league, and hes always watching it, and he would love to play there. Hopefully Man U will get hm.

I can't see ManU getting him really, unless there's a change in management. It seems to me that few people want to play for Ferguson these days. Plus after getting burned on Veron, they don't seem to want to spend huge money on players (not that Adu would be in that price range).

I hate to say it, but I can really see them moving Ferguson upstairs and Martin O'Neill being brought in, especially after Celtic beating Barcelona last night. As a Celtic fan I don't like the idea, but even I admit O'Neill will have to go elsewhere for real satisfaction.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...............maybe Henrik Larsson would like to play for DC after leaving in the summer.................no, I don't think so unfortunately.

I haven't gotten to do this for a while...let's see if I still know how.

FIFA has a rule against the international transfer of children. Freddy will be here for 3 seasons at least.

    Yep, still got it.

I'll take care of this for you Dave.

He cannot go anywhere until he's 18. He's signed a long-term, professional contract, meaning if he went anywhere else, it would be on a transfer, which is not allowed for players under the age of 18 as per a new FIFA rule enacted last year.

And the MLS will not let Adu go earlier than that because, well, he's the most interesting player we've had for a while.

    And he's going to Barca...

Freddy will go out and tear the field apart in 2006 creating all this buzz for a 17 year old, he will then be wrapped up in bubble wrap by MLS and sold for an ungodly sum on his 18th birthday.

OOPS!! That's what I get for listening to journalists! I admit I never pay any attention to FIFA rules, so I though he could go while young. I'm actually glad he'l be at DC for a while. Hopefully when he is sold, it will make MLS and more directly, DCU, a bucketload of cash!
