Preston boss Darren Ferguson will release up to 12 players this summer as he reshapes his Deepdale squad. Four players currently out on loan - Neal Trotman, Neill Collins, Stephen Elliott and Eddie Nolan - will depart along with a clutch of first-team players. They include Neil Mellor, Richard Chaplow, Michael Hart, Liam Chilvers, Darren Carter and Chris Sedgwick, who have all been placed on the transfer list. However, Ferguson is confident of bringing Manchester United duo Matt James and Danny Welbeck back to Deepdale on loan again next term. Ferguson said: "Matty James is done and dusted and Danny [Welbeck] is having a think about it - there has been conversations taking place.
