From yesterday's MLS Confidential. It seems that a significant amount of the work on the Galaxy's new stadium is done. It is formally scheduled to open on June 1, 2003, but will be completed by early spring. Most of the stadium's structure is done, and the major work on the press box, and luxury suites is done. Sod is being laid down for the training fields, and Kashima Antlers (J-League) may be coming in Feb/March for a training camp. This project seems to be moving along quickly.
Anyone have any new pictures? The last I saw were of Heather Mitts. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
From the look of the webcam it looks like it's raining again. Either that, or it's one hell of a smog alert.
In case you aren't aware of the weather in LA, that stuff in the picture is actually the marine layer that comes in each morning and is burned off before lunchtime. I would be surprised if it is rain since I spoke with my Dad yesterday and he said it was 96 degrees there with no rain in sight. What you see in the pics in the afternoon is probably some consruction dust, but mostly smog unless the ocean breezes pick up.
Ah. Sorry. Thanks for the meteorology lesson. Noticed it on the plane trip to SF (via LA) recently. Didn't store it for future reference.
Drove past the site last week and it looked like things were coming along. The skeleton of the stands look to be up on three sides.
The first words of most children in LA are "late night and early morning low clouds followed hazy afternoon sunshine" Anyway, from what I have seen, the building process is just flying, and I don't see why they couldn't have the thing ready to go by May, if not even April.
