Serie A clubs want Oct start - SoccerAge

Looks like 8 of the smaller clubs are requesting an October start so that they can get their TV contracts set up.

Can anyone with more info (Italian TV, news) confirm this?

    Fiorentina face extinction - BBC

Everybody seems confident that they can demonstrate to the FIGC that they are financially sound, except Fiorentina.

There was talking about postponing the season so the teams could get their tv contracts worked out, but that plan was shot down.

There was a proposal of the clubs without contracts playing away from home every game and sharing the profits with the clubs they visit. I believe that was shot down as well.

The other teams shouldn't have to suffer because some teams can't get their tv contracts sorted out. This is why the league should have a contract as a whole, like they do in England. It would help all the teams.

It sounds like "the 8" are trying yet again to make their case for a delayed start. There will be a press conference on Wednesday. Official announcement of the schedule is supposed to be Thursday. I doubt they will succeed. This sounds like a last desperate plea at generating public support.
