    Let's get this party started!

I'm not afraid to launch the first game thread of the new season. We are less than a week out!

I don't know about y'all, but I can't wait to see the first Away Game video!

Is it sad I'm not excited as much as I should be about Saturday? Just a few weeks ago I thought we signed ADE, Modric was gone, and we had some money to go get a goal keeper or another striker. Modric is still here, Ade isn't, and we just put in a bid for a defensive midfielder while announcing the start of a 19 year old striker......

It takes a brave, brave man to start this thread. Well done, sir.

If you mean the Dan and Tim Away Day videos, unfortunately there won't be a Newcastle one. He said on Twitter that he wasn't going due to travel logistics. Too bad, with Kane leading the line it would be a pretty entertaining video. Probably the only thing about that scenario that will be entertaining, mind.

Why do we always start with an away game up north? Couldn't we get Fulham at home, something like that?

Come on guys, we have a good squad. And i'm willing to put a million dollars that we will have some VERY last minute signing before Newcastle. Looks like Modric deal is wrapping up and reports claim that Adebayor is making a deal with Citey so he will be here soon. Plus M'Villa apparently is interested in Spurs, which can only help!

I would almost rather that any last minute signing not start against t'Toon this weekend. I guess it depends on who it is and what role they are asked to play, though.

I feel like Adebayor could slot right in, but a midfielder (Moutinho, M'Vila, etc.) might not be able to do the same.

agreed but the only position desperate enough to be slotted in last minute would be Ade and he has been with us for a year already

if true, that would represent the most absurd use of a million dollars since we applied that amount to roughly a quarter of grzegorz rasiak's transfer fee.

With the injuries we have and Modric about to leave and playing Kane up front, saturday could be a nightmare for us. Defoe should start over Kane but we do need ADE!

If the preseasons says anything and what Defoe has been saying, AVB prefers Kane.

SO! We either lose bad or Kane becomes one of the best fantasy prem league signings possible :p

I will say that we NEED to be signing Ade or someone else by the end of today in order for them to play much of a role Saturday... tick tock

Sorry, I am late to the part but I had the State in my building for the last two weeks. But I am worried about this start of the season. What does Defoe have to do.. I mean really! and before I get on my Bent,D bandwagon, I thought Defoe was better than.

Interesting - early signs indicate how highly AvB values pace and athleticism - this year's John Terry and Frank Lampard are Michael Dawson (who doesn't make the 18) and VdV (on the bench). Hudds also doesn't make the 18 but Jenas does, Andros Townsend on the bench over Bentley.

Bale all the way up at top. I guess he is going to pump in crosses to Defoe?

    Weird.
