I love Smalling, but the overpraise is clearly off. The extra help in midfield has been big, as has De Gea and the fact that we have been rather lucky with the finishing against us.

If we don't win this game, he now has his excuse.

Herrera at 10 with speed on the wings seems to help. Lingard can be so hot and cold. horrible miss. He is like Nani somedays, hopefully he can become more consistent.

He is going to be 70, in a wheelchair, and still be putting it on Newcastle.

True that he's helped by the double pivot and Schneiderlin's presence in midfield especially, but he still has Blind next to him, who as I said, has done a commendable job, but is not a real CB by trade or instincts.
Smalling would be a noticeably better CB with a partner who has the same defensive instincts that he does. Getting one of Laporte or Stones would do that trick and transform our backline.

I'm simply not interested in having any discussion with some petty a@@hole who thinks he can talk to me however he feels. Nothing more or less: straightforward stuff really...

Either would do just fine for me. Laporte is a beast in waiting for me and he'd have a slight edge over Stones in my book...

No you like no argument when you get called out on your clear lack of knowledge. Which is why you lash out.

What was Rooney trying there. It was like he was hoping Coloccini would just move.

The benefit of Laporte is creating lefty/righty balance at the back.

simple, step over to the inside move the ball to the left where there is ample space and shoot far post.

crap left foot I think is why he didn't do it.

I don't really think its as straightforward as you put it. Smalling and Blind complement each other in a way because they both cover each other's deficiencies (Smalling's poor play on the ball and Blind's lack of pace). So the midfield is covering for both the centre halves and not just one. You cannot deem Smalling as world class if he needs a better partner. It would be his partner then who should be deemed world class.
