Game's at St. James' Park. Kick-off is at 3 pm (10 am ET in the states).

I've seen reports that say Shearer should be fit, and I have seen reports that say Shearer won't be fit. It sounds like Kluivert is ruled out as well. So we might be starting Ameobi and Bellamy up top. Hopefully Lua Lua won't f*** us over like he did last season.

Wow. We need to get on some sort of run and start winning some games if we are going to even get a UEFA Cup spot next season. I haven't seen too many games this season, but it seems our offense is starting to sputter. Maybe when Shearer comes back from injury the offense will come to life. The defense hasn't shown a drastic amount of improvement either. Come on Toon! We can't keep dropping points to teams like Portsmouth and Fulham!

We get the UEFA Cup spot automatically when we win the UEFA Cup. That's all I see this team doing now. Bottom half of the table and a miraculous Cup run.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Yeah, I know. We had a good UEFA Cup run last year, but we still didn't lift the trophy. Hopefully that will change this year. But if it doesn't, there's always the FA Cup.

It was a game we should have wrapped up in the first 30 minutes. The turning point was Stone's deflected goal, but Dyer had an absolutely incredible miss shortly before.

Once we were level, we really didn't look like winning and by the end were hanging on for a draw.

No individual had a bad game, but as a team we were rubbish. We had no presence up front; Bellamy ended up playing too close to the defence and had no real space. Shola was no replacement for either Shearer or Kluivert.

Some of the selection was strange. Milner is clearly very right-footed, yet played wide on the left for most of the game while Robert was on the bench. Bowyer played wide right - he was probably our best player (didn't stop him being substituted however) but would have been more effective in the middle.

We now look like a very run of the mill mid-table team. Unless Souness pulls some good signings out in January, cup runs are all we have to look forward to.

We were oh-so close until Marseille put a damper on that. I've heard that we're favorites to win it this year. I sure hope so. Last year I said I had a great feeling for us to get to the final and I've got that same feeling this year too.
