Can't play 4-5-1 unless you have a pacy striker up top. Not ideal for Shearer.
In any case, Bowyer, Butt, and Faye cannot hold possession or pass the ball. Holding possession is pretty much the whole point.

02-03 Leeds- West Ham 3 Goals, 25 Games
    03-04 Newcastle United 2 Goals, 24 Games
    04-05 Newcastle United 3 Goals, 27 Games

Not good enough for a player who can't pass the ball.

You'll be amazed at how capable that backline is when the club has a midfield that can actually hold possession.

Some Spurs fans are claiming that the deal is already in place. NUFC supposedly offered 5.5m for Keane, and Tottenham are waiting for the Kuijt deal to go through before selling.

    Hey, don't shoot the messanger.

    Boumsong lobbies for Anelka

At 4.5m, I'd take the gamble. At 6, I'd probably take the gamble, if upping it that high will get the deal done as some privately believe it may.

    Schalke nears Baros deal

Cross another striker linked to NUFC off the list, looks like. Not that I particularly care about Baros signing elsewhere or anything, it just underscores the inactivity of NUFC in addressing their most pressing need.

Watching Boa Morte in Fulham vs. MLS All-stars. I have to say I'm not very impressed with him. Imo DMB is a way better (and Justin Mapp).
    Edit
Fulham is God awful and Boa Morte would be average in the MLS as a winger. He has got pace but somethings missing in his game. I think he's to soft. If he was American he wouldn't sniff a call up to the Nats.

With that being said we still need him at Newcastle.
What kind of universe do we live in where you can think a player sucks and you still want him on your team because your team has no one else in sight. WTF!!

Well, it was their pre-season and the team isn't used to all that heat...

I'll bet their keeper Drobny gets sent off this season for handling outside the box, unless it's against Newcastle.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Yeah I know ;) .....but the season starts in two weeks. I still think we need some speed on the edges and somebody use to playing on the wing so I won't be disappointed if we sign him.

Some people might scoff at this but I think we should take a look a Justin Mapp now or hell DMB maybe this winter.

    Real will let Owen go

There you have it. FF had best at least make the call, or I will be even more disappointed than I already am with the board.

Newcastle is going down a slope. Fast.
But we are still by no means a poor club! We bidded 20 million for rooney last term, and we have sold enough players and attracted large enough crowds
the slump we are in is a SPORTING slump
that can only be solved on the pitch
and we will only improve on the pitch with new and BETTER players
We cant get out of this by buying players that aretn any better than the ones we have right now, ********** our first team squad, they didnt win games for us any more than our crappy reserves lost them for us

Serious and ambitious investment is the only thing that could prevent us from becoming just another Crappy midtable shame

We need to stop fishing around for ************ players like boamorte and anelka and instead go for more quality signings, like at the level of Parker and Emre

    Souness! DO SOMETHINg

If we were willing to give rooney 20million i think that Gram would be the stupidestmaniger ever if he didnt offer 20million plus. I dont think were in a money crisis and if we land him it would be ooooooo so sweet. :)

I think everyone one this board should start thinking that Mickey Owen is crap and I'll start a thread titled 'Should NUFC bid on crap Owen' and sure enough two days later will be in pole position to sign him.
