The Polygon group apparently has little interest in meddling on the football side like is happening at Hearts and Chelski, but is still interested in the acquisition for football reasons and not predominantly interested in casino prospects like Belgravia. UBS is one of the most stable financial giants in the world, so that basically ensures some financial stability for the club, which would be nice. Mum's the word from the Board, but I don't see how this one could be a bad thing, whereas the whole Belgravia thing kinda seems sketchy to me. If you want to take the Bill Clinton methodology of reading between the lines, the statement says 'as appropriate', not 'if appropriate'.
So this morning Soccer365.com indicates sale, and I am happy jumping around, even without my first cup of coffee. Then I found the board's statement and I settled down quickly. My hopes and prayers is this is just like any transfer. First deny the player is available (thank you FF) then deny any interest (thank you board)... Hopefully they'll skip the insanely high transfer fee request part and just get this deal done ASAP. We need the money for the coming window. 14 players injuried and our back line needs HELP!
I hope its going to happen. sooner better than later. IMO all the Belgravia hype was (and still is) a hope to still be in the running in case something drops out. The UBS/Polygon/NUFC relationship looks like a VC firm investing in an established Company with experience who needs a cash infusion to get to, or create, the next level.
wow 20m for the transfer window...wow. god I hope we can convince them to up to to something more respectable.
From what I was reading through various online sources, it seems they still recognize that the casino is a viable and attractive option and would probably thrust the club into the big-boy spending level, but it's not about the casino or anything else, it's about getting into football. I think that's important and if genuine, almost by default makes this possible takeover in particular a good thing given the stability of those behind the supposed bid.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/columnists/columnists.html?in_article_id=423032&in_page_id=1951 The daily mail is still sticking to their story, and expanding a little bit on it by talking about how the guy who helped match Abromavich with Chelsea, is the same one facilitating this deal with Polygon/UBS. Apparently, everything will come out on Tuesday at the shareholders meeting.
